    I said that!
But if he drops his level he'll be another Washington.

Amazing. Most thought he would go across and be successful. He spurred us into life the last couple of seasons driving us on when no one else would.

Only fear is if his size will go against him

Hes due to be dropped and never start another gsae after that performance.
                Wheeler and Bos have bwen.

Memory men, was that best debut ever from a youngster who cost nothing?

Clive Allen scored a hat trick on his home debut. Aged 18.

Thought Smyth was absolutely superb. Playing on the shoulder of the defenders with a real ability to turn his marker at pace with the ball. Certainly offers something we've been lacking for a long time up top.

His size will be a problem when he slows down. It'll be a good few years till that happens, till then there's plenty of strikers that made a living just being quick, Owen, Defoe, Vardy to name 3.

Anyone at the game today who saw him probably got an inkling he was going to score. Getting body checked by Bamba and Manga all first half, you could see the kid beating them both, putting it away and making a mockery of their attempts at defending him. That finish was sublime, all things considered. Beat the keeper at his near post by putting power on it, keeping it away from both centre backs the whole time. Great goal to cap off a great performance.

Also that kid Oteh, looks good in general but seemed lethargic at a point today prior to getting a little knock at the end. Hopefully it's not an attitude thing.

Great way to start the new year in any case that debut goal, long may this continue and CMON YOU RRRSSS
No to be a dick, but, the shot deflected past the keeper.

He'd done the hard work getting himself there and that's the most exciting thing, someone running for goal for once, he got a shot off, most likely on target, and he got it in. Thats all that counts, but he got a bit of luck with the finish.

Funny luck is is something Ollie's been on about, well, we finally got a bit yesterday, after the penalty, so maybe luck of the irish is a ting.

Tbf don't think anybody is getting carried away? Simply praising a young lad on a great debut?
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
