We're half way through the season, he should know that by now.
Glad we can agree on that at least.

Sylla deserves to keep his place in the side, even after a poor game or one where he didn't score. He scored 2 in 2 then had a poor game at Forest and got dropped.
As for Wheeler, he has hardly had a fair chance has he? Up front on his own at Derby, is hardly a chance in his favoured position.
Truth is IH has his favourites (always did) and doesn't want to leave them out of the side if he can avoid it.
Originally posted by brightonr View PostPinkie, Smith not pulling up trees when starting has nothing to do with him. Everything to do with the service he doesn't get from wingers because Holloway doesn't play them. No point at all in expecting him to do wonders each time Lynch just hoofs the ball up in his general direction.
The squad is set up for a 4-4-2, so that is what the manager should stick to.
If he wanted 3-5-2 he should have signed wing backs instead of Lua Lua, Wheeler and Bright, and perhaps moved Ngaboto and Wyszolek on.

Language barrier, first job, not respected by the players as a manager at that point as he'd never done it, spotlight on him for obvious reasons.
Wouldn't be my first choice but I would not rule him out in the future as a decent manager if he starts in League 1 and builds a reputation & gains sufficient experience.

Stan young furlong had a good game at reading every dog has his day ! He hasn't been very good since , I can't comment on Kakay but the rest you've mentioned can play full back but not good enough at wing back , thats my gripe we don't play a flat back 4 , what I'm saying is the players are lower championship level at best that can do a job at F/B but playing 3_5 ,,is above them

Originally posted by Stanley View PostWell for example, witness Furlong last season away to Reading - he excelled at RB with Pavel in front of him at RW. The system worked a treat and we won an away game to boot, but the manager never persisted with it. So Furlong could prove to be a good RB given half a chance. Kakay's main position is RB too. Pawel played there last week away to Preston and did a great job. Even Mackie previously did well at RB and is arguably less of a liability there. Baptise and Scowen can also play there, so we do have decent options there until Perch is back.
Not a fan of Pawel playing full back, or wing back for that matter. He's one of the best players in this league if played as a winger, so it's daft to start him elsewhere on the pitch. But as you mention Stan, plenty of good options at right back. Bidwell starts every game, and is rarely injured so should be a safe bet at left back with any one of Robison, Baptiste or Lynch as backup if required.
There is no excuse to be persevering with this 3-5-2 system. It was clear very early this season that it wasn't going to work with this group of players.Last edited by Tarbie; 07-12-2017, 12:33 PM.
