  • Mahons performance

would just like to say how well Mahon played at the weekend. Lots of people seriously criticise this guy - and I think it is very harsh. Just because hes not the fastest or most glamourous player in the world, doesnt make him crap. As usual, a consistently solid performance, lead the team well, and kept the ball simple. Although not first choice, a more than good enough fill in player, and doesnt deserve the stick he gets. I hope his critics can at least see how well he played against PNE

On saturday - he was FAULTLESS.

For somebody who hasn't played for ages, that really took some doing.
Just proves that over a season, eg: on a cold night at Bramall Lane, we'll need him.
Deserves more credit than he's had for that performance.

Amen to that.Close to being my MOTM.He covered the entire pitch with a lot of enthusiasm, and one step-over dummy he did was almost Ronaldoesque in its execution.

looks like he made the most of his chance, good for him,but expect him to be dropped for Watson on tuesday.

The other feature of his game which rarely gets a mention is his leadership/captaincy. When Adel got brought down on Saturday he intended to take the penalty and make his intention very clear. Gavin stepped in, gestured to Buzz = end of discussion. Adel took it well and the pen was perfect, any nearer the keeper and it would have been saved. Adel may well have missed and we all know how harsh a crowd in W12 can get.

Great leadership - well done Gavin Mahon

ERRRR sorry mate... FAUTLESS.... What a load of obllocks! He had a excellent 1st half yes but got caught in posession a fair few times in the 2nd half and got out of trouble a few times thanks to Faurlin, Borrowdale and Stewart. HE ALSO WAS FRIGGING LUCKY and HAS A LOT TO THANK STEWART FOR AFTER THAT PASS ON ABOUT 70 ODD MINS THAT PUT THEIR STRIKER ALMOST CLEAN THROUGH NEARLY COST US A GOAL. He had a good game BUT DO GET REAL FELLA! Do you only see the good things that happen? If I had the option I would have taken him off on 70 mins. That's all he can last for now in high tempo games.

his job is to protect the defence and stop the opposition playing football. playing that position is never likely to win many plaudits but he did his job on saturday and thats all u can ask.

He's an underrated player because he isn't tricky, or especially athletic. I personally think he is a quality Championship player. He never EVER hides, and he is a great leader, whch makes a big difference. Well done Mahon.

I think reason he played well is because he has been on the bench and he wants to fight for his place. That's the merit of having a lot options in each position. It's healthy thing for the team. This season we have a good backup not like previous seasons which really increases the chance for competing in the league. We are in a consistent stage.

Webby (30) and McLintock (37) weren't the quickest either but it didnt detract one bit from their ability back in 75/76. Players used to retire a lot earlier back then too.

                        Go Gavin!

Mahon sat in front of Faurlin so FAURLIN was the one who did his job properly!

Oh you do talk nonsense, he made a couple of mistakes in the last 20 minutes due to a lack of match fitness, nothing else, give the guy the credit where it is due

He can't be all that if even S****horpe don't want him. Useful squad player but lets not suddenly make out he is the new Gareth Barry.
