  • Why do we get so little coverage?

We get our token 15 seconds on 'The Football League' show every week and today, after a resounding 4-0 win over one of the top 6 sides in the division we get a small corner in The Sun. Absolutly shocking, what the hell have we done to be so hated by the media of this country?

I don't know if we are hated by the media because we have three games in the next couple of weeks on TV. I occassionally will buy the NOTW on a sunday and they always give us a large write up. How many other clubs have someone like David McIntyre reporting the latest news from within the club?

It does feel like the football league show should be re-named the newcastle united show

Lets hope when we start to threaten the summit we might get a little more airtime

Derby on BBC Two this Saturday (24/10) @ 17.15
            Leicester on SSP1 the following Friday (30/10) @ 19.45

Okay the third game isn't till December but Watford on the 7th shows we are being completely ignored.

we are a small club - come to terms with it!

We get gates of 11,000 - just over half fill our stadium, not at the very top, or bottom of the league etc etc.... once we are in the top 6, we will get more love. ;)

Oldhoop is right we've got the game against the Baggies the following week after Watford. So 4 games on TV between now and December 14th.

The statisicans know we will be up there come end of season. I'd expect even more air time early next year.

Title decider QPR V Newcastle United would be a good one last game of the season, don't you think?

The BBC is obsessed with Newcastle!
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

It may not be right but football is all about the premiership now, nothing else is deemed to matter, and newcastle is the nearest the championship has to a premiership club. sad but simple.

Nail on head SIAL.The Daily Mail pi**es me off and I've told their sports editor so.Two weeks ago today,ELEVEN pages were devoted to the Prem (3 of them to Man f*****g Utd) and only HALF a page covered 3 matches in the Championship which excluded QPR. NO GAMES AT ALL outside the top two divisions were reported on.I accused their sports dept of becomming eliteist and I felt that smaller clubs were being forgotten and that not every one supports the top four in the Prem.I've since stopped having the Mail delivered.

On a couple of newspapers I've worked on I've made the point that if they could make the claim - to be advertised at every ground around the country - "this is the only newspaper that will give you a comprehensive report on every match played in all four divisions" it wd do really well. But instead sports pages are filled with "Fergie lashes ref"/ "Wenger rages at Benitez" rubbish that I suspect even supporters of those clubs don't bother reading it now.
The broadsheets are generally better but for a comprehensive report you often have to look on the web. The downside is these reports are often written by amateurs so there tend to be mistakes but still often good reading. Like the Godfather's reports on here for instance.
