  • Parachute payments...

I, like many others, was under the impression that our parachute payments had finished. But according to the article below, we have 1 more parachute payment this season:

Next year is the last season of Fulham receiving additional income from the Premier League after their relegation in 2014, while QPR will have two more season of receiving the funds.

So why are Les and the board saying there aren't any transfer funds? Where is this last parachute payment going?

Or have I read all of that wrong?

If they know this is last payment is it not sensible not to blow it?? That's good business sense to me cut cloth accordingly while you have the extra so you don't feel the pain when it's gone it's logical

I'm not saying let's blow it, but surely some of it can be used for transfers? Unless they're waiting to see what the FFP verdict is...

£31.1m that's when we went down... so we have had one season gone and we will get one this season coming? Surprised this was mentioned as I thought all the wages and transfer fees have all come out of Fernandes' 'own pocket'. Would love to see the incoming monies as everyone talked about the money Tony has spent.

That website is a very poor source of information. I think the headline is wrong too, as I believe it should read 2017/18 season. Two reasons for this. Firstly, the amount for this season is highly unlikely to be determined at the end of the season. Secondly, I'm pretty certain that changes were made a while back whereby relegated clubs would get the payments over 4 years instead of 2.

as far as i understood it, teams that were relegated in 2014/15 season (eg us) had an estimated split of their parachute payments split:

              2015/16 £24m
              2016/17 £19m
              2017/18 £10m
              2018/19 £10m
              £10m
so we have parachute payments this coming season and the one after it. it seems that the original estimates were also on the low side, so could be more than just £10m

teams relegated in 2015/16 and afterwards get the payments split over 3 years (or 2 years if they were only in the prem for 1 season)

Cheers for that mate, wasn't sure at all. So they must be waiting for the FFP thing to be over with.

They will probably waste it all on parachutes.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

What ever we get out of them this year has probably got to go to paying the FFP fine coming our way

I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles
