Winger Olamide Shodipo scored the winner for Republic of Ireland Under-21s on Saturday lunch-time as they kicked off their Euro 2019 U21 Championship qualification with three points.

Shodipo - currently on loan at League One side Port Vale - scored the only goal of the game in the second half against Kosovo as midfielder Ryan Manning also made his Ireland Under-21 debut before being replaced by teammate Reece Grego-Cox midway through the second half.

There was also an Under-21 debut for Niko Hamalainen on Friday as he appeared for Finland’s Under-21 side for the first time as they lost 2-0 against the Netherlands in a friendly.

Finally, Under-23s attacker Eberechi Eze has been invited to train with the Nigerian senior side for two days whilst they are in London this week having caught the eye for the R’s EDS side this season.

On Manning, I honestly think JFH should be called to task for nearly ruining this lad's career and nearly depriving Rangers of a proper young prospect. Just shows how some people can change the course of another's career. That man was, and still is, a damn disgrace to football

Three u-21 internationals in the Ireland team. That´s pretty good. Seems like there has always been a strong connection between Ireland/NI and QPR. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Quite a few Irish pubs in London. That could be it.

Whole of NW London, especially round Kilburn, had a massive Irish community for decades, since the late 19th century at least. Not so much any more, but still remnants in Kilburn. Many of them gravitated to Rangers.
