It was on my bucket list of ground to see Rs at. Dissapointed. Looks as though they ran out of money. Half the ground corner to corner quite impressive. Then 1 1/4 tier missing and then some stupid
reflective plastic screen. Couldn't even to be bothered to label row numbers for away teams. Arrogant management arrogant team.
I went up there on Kevin Keegan debut for them. We lost one nil and guess who scored
Anyone else on here there that day?
Yep was there too, funny old day! Taking money off a guy on the train up there who kept losing on cards and then paying for him to get in as he had nothing left then a Rangers fan doing a commentary at half time in a geordie accent of Keegan scoring ! As you say we all know what happened, must have had a premonition.
‘Done Newcastle and Sunderland away few times football defo comes second best to the social up there.’
Nice find that.
Would anyone here like to do that something like that for this site, take quotes from their fan forums and post them here, we'll publish it if anyone's interested?
It's quite good because we get to read what their saying about the match and get's a conversation going too.
Orrible ######s when they lose . Like to find strays and give them a hiding. We found that out when Les scored the winner 20 odd years ago
Stesjkal saving a last minute penalty didn't help, the police insisted on taking us to the station even though we were staying up there, took us there and walked off knowing hoards of Geordies had followed the escort all the way there - queue chaos

I remember coming out of the ground and we were behind the police line. Despite this, a great big Geordie came up to me (I was about 18 at the time) and said 'what dya think of Kevin Keeeegan then'? 'He's ok' I meekly replied!
What surprised me was not the state of the football special train the supporters club dumped us on, but being marched through the town centre like a circus while fully grown men with Keegan portraits tatoo'd on their arms kept coming up and yelling inaudible xrap at us. Then seeing the outer walls of St.James' park with hundreds sitting on top of it.
Then the escorts back to the station afterwards, having skinhead Geordie girls trying to sneak into our es ort as they wanted to escape to London
