Mackail - Smith rejects move
Wed, 22 Jun 16:39:52 2011
Peterborough`s in-demand striker Craig Mackail-Smith looks to have already rejected the chance to join one unnamed Premier League club.
The 27-year-old is poised to leave London Road this summer and the likes of Everton, QPR and Norwich, among others, are all linked to his services, with Posh having already accepted one undisclosed bid.
But, as the chase heats up, director of football Barry Fry has told Peterborough`s Evening Telegraph: "One Premier League club who have spoken to Craig set him a deadline of today (Wednesday) to make his mind up, but he will not be going there.
"It's not a question of money, it's a couple of other things that he's not happy about. Craig is right not to rush into anything because there is still plenty of interest in him."
Fry also revealed West Ham have been in contact regarding the forward but are yet to register a bid, although, contrary to speculation, they did not enquire about goalkeeper Joe Lewis.
"West Ham have not spoken to me about Joe Lewis, but they did ask me what we wanted for Craig," Fry added. "They have not made a bid as yet, but they are having a serious go at getting back into the Premier League straight away."
