  • Really need a striker on loan

Simpson is the only striker that is worth a starting place imo.

    Vine: Not been playing well
    Pat: Not exactly good
    Pellicori: Why?
Taarabt: Good player but not been fitting well in the system.

We are really short in this dept., Time to sign a new striker Jim!

Its been time to sign a new striker (or two) for the past 2 seasons.Rumours are rife at the moment what with Marlon King,Simeon Jackson,Nathan Ellington etc etc etc,but as usual nothing is being done about it.We've had 2 weeks of total inactivity on the field and s*d all has been done. 4 of the next 5 games are at home and an excellent opportunity presents itself to achieve and consolidate a top six place - can the management and Board not see this??? I can only assume that everything has been put on the back burner until Flaviogate has been sorted, which could take us past the January window.I can't believe that some people want us to actually celebrate Briatore's return should he show his face tomorrow.

I'd like to keep this thread going for a while in the vain hope that someone at HQ might sit up and take notice, although another powder-puff performance against a tough team today might say more.

When was the last time we scored 9 goals in two home games.??

All this nonsense about scoring goals and needing a striker, beginning to wear a bit thin

Might be right, but when are fans going to stop asking for one.

Will it need 6 against reading??

Seriously,a big budget will be given in January and strikers are high on the agenda.

I would like to point out before todays game after i had travelled to newcastle, then swansea on the sat i was a little down in the dumps...

I was frustrated after the swansea game....

IMO we had a great game today, were scored goals and everything this evening is fantastic, i regret now making that comment because its a little harsh, but imo we do still need 1 more striker to confirm our place in the top 6...

I dont want people to read that and think "god some people are never happy" because i am, im delighted with today, but like i say 1 more striker would really help us grab that top 6 finish!!..

Well that's cracking news about the budget Pete. If we cd bring in Hooper, sign Watson permanently and if poss a left back think we wd have to be around top four. Even Newcastle and WBA are not looking totally invinsible now..

So if come January,we are sitting within the top 6,or there abouts, and looking like Brazil.Do we still go out and buy the likes of Hooper or Beckford ?,put them on long term contracts, and ultimately find that they are not the answer to fullfill our Premiership ambitions. This club as a whole has filled spaces and ticked boxes as we have gone along, for quite a few years now, what we need to do is look at the bigger picture and strive to find players that tick premiership boxes.

Jay Simpson now has a 1 in 2 goal ratio for us, an excellent strike rate by anyone's standards. And Super Wayne is top scorer with 6.

Maybe Jim has just hit on something by playing 2 very mobile strikers that are both under 6ft. It certainly worked yesterday with Preston's big defenders run completely ragged. They looked lost and just didnt have a clue how to handle us. It was an unorthodox approach and one I'd like to see experimented more with.

Having said that, there were also occasions yesterday when we were flying great crosses in and there was simply no one there to get on the end of them, so an additional taller striker in January would definitely help matters and provide more options.
