Dont care about Derby, and not interested in comparing our situation to theirs.

Good answer. Got to care about the other teams if we want to go up. If they do badly, gives us more chance,

It is not attractive but its one hundred per cent working, look at the table from the start of the season to today. We are right up there.

Why would anyone bother to watch something unattractive? Why should it be subsidised by us?
How does being unattractive help at the gate? How does it fit into our football culture and heritage, because from the mid 60s onwards we created a football brand.

When the last manager left (or kind of half left) the powers that be should have sat down and asked what does the FC bit on the end mean? Who is the type of manager who can restore our brand? (see above).

You can be tight at the back but still play football. That's the bit thats gone missing.

Would you you be happier losing but coming out having seen a great game

Don't mean to be pedantic but that's open play??
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Firstly you can get beat in awful games as well as great ones as we know only too well. In general, it depends on the game. In a final against Man City, for example, it might not be prudent to go 4-2-4. Or even 4-3-3.

But this was Blackburn ffs. If we can't be more expansive vs them, even if being expansive means leaving a few gaps, I don't think I'm going to be seeing any great games.

So the answer to the question is basically yes, because going up is irrelevant. If by some miracle that happened, we're way below EPL bottom third standard so either way we might as well try the odd bit of entertainment.

Does anybody really care how we score as long as we score more than the other team?

Absolutely this, Set piece goals count the same as any other goal. As long as they go in, we're doing something right.

Culture and heritage only counts if you are from the Marsh Bowles Wegerle etc era,we were spoilt
to some extent as there was an aundance of entertaining football.
I think the younger supporters among us would settle for a win or draw even if it is ugly and boring to watch
                              week in week out.
The only recent entertainer was Adel and sadly for what ever reason those type of players are a rare breed
and have to be loved and carry their own problems

True, but still gunna need goal scorers. All very well relying on set pieces after only a hand full of games, but over a course of a season we're going to need more than that!....
