I've no problem with Taraabt but will he hold the ball up and bring others in like Vine has? Will he pass the ball when there isn't an opportunity for him to score like Vine does.

Good player with brilliant potential but is he a team player like Vine?

      3 NO's IMHO
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

The answer to all those questions is probably "no" but I wd play him anyway, simply because Vine seems incapable of scoring. Playing with Vine up front is like firing a shot gun loaded with one rather than two cartridges. It is asking a huge amount of the one cartridge, ie Simpson. I've always been a fan of Vine but if you are a striker who doesn't score you need to be making a huge number of assists. Confess I haven't seen those figures for this season but just from the games I've watched not convinced he is making enough happen to justify his place. Tarabt might be thoroughly selfish but at least he might score.

I think Tarrabts weak points are shooting and final ball..when there is one.
The best striker of a ball is Buz and Tarrabt for me in the squad would be in the catorgory of worst striker of a ball so hence he shouldn't start. Vine needs a goal there is no hiding that but he just needs a chance of luck. When he struck the post I thought he tried to curl in neatly in the fair corner. We need to persist with him as Tarrabt is not a striker in my opinion.

Vine hasn't been scoring and in that regard Taarabt looks the better bet! As for holding the ball up whilst not in the traditional sense Taarabt has unbelievable skill and ball control which allows him to hold the ball even when under pressure, he certainly needs to work on his passing but other than that...

His shooting technically is very poor. Not a centre forward. Was never seen as a striker at spurs and Harry knows his stuff. He is an annoying player that I don't think really has a position. Until he learns to be a better team player then not for me.

It's a bit like the Heskey situation with Vine. Does alot for the team but how long can you go on without him finding the net? Slightly off topic but Terry and Heskey both have the same amount of England caps yet Heskey has only scored one goal more than Terry.

Would like to see how Balanta does alongside Simpson when he returns from injury.

Yea but then I think Heskey is a genuine target man that can't be said about Vine, he isn't prolific in front of goal and isn't a proper target man either. I like Vine and when he was playing under Di Canio he was superb but I think with his current form in a 442 formation there isn't room for him, his saving grace at the moment is we don't have anyone better!

True very true. Would he be better suited on the left and Buzsaky alongside Simpson? Or is it time someone else gets a chance?

Vine is by no means a prolific scorer, but he has been unlucky on a couple of occasions this season. And he hasn't really played that many games since a very serious injury.

I still think he will soon start scoring a few goals, as well as create chances for others.

He is also very good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

I do like Taarabt and he has a lot of skill, but he still doesn't play as a team player. In time he will, but for now, I'd keep faith with Vine for a few more games.

But Stan as Fez says he is not really a target man either. If you don't score, don't hold the ball up and don't even - at the moment - make that many assists, why are you in the team? I say that as someone who likes the player but again as Fez or someone points out the only reason why he is anywhere near the team on current form is because we are so shockingly light up top.

I think JM has been very fair with Vine by giving him a run in the team but despite a few glimpses of his old self he is clearly the weak link at present and that includes Borrowdale.

Taarabt has scored something like 3 in the last 4 internationals I don't care who they came against either. He is a 'striker' who plays for us and is scoring goals at present so he must start IMO.

Plus he is a joy to watch and one of the biggest talents in the CCC, we are very lucky to have him.
