  • ‘Draining, humbling, inspiring’: Steven Caulker’s life-changing Sierra Leone trip

Most footballers spend the close season on the beach or a golf course, but the QPR defender has given something back to the west African country and birthplace of his grandfather after a remarkable voyage of discovery...

Really good article, seems like a nice guy and as with Ronaldo many say that money isnt much to them, he is still doing it and getting involved long term with them. I hope he stays this season as looked good on sunday.

What a fantastic, heartwarming article, thanks for posting it Stan. And hats off to Steven Caulker - what an incredible contrast between this and the bloated premiership players holidaying on their multi-million pound yachts. It makes me proud he's part of the QPR family. We're building something good here under the guidance of Lee Hoos, Les and JFH.

Fair play to him. Thought he was smart for a footballer when he was recently interviewed on the official.

Nice Article! I don't want to complain,, but sometimes he has came across a bit self-entitled. As a young, wealthy, successful individual this is (to some degree) understandable. Hopefully he is maturing and realises how fortunate he is. Joey Barton definitely had issues when he was younger and seemed to mature well later on, so fingers crossed Caulker can do the same

"...and found relief with the early-morning cold shower (laced with Dettol) “the likes of which you don’t get anywhere else, other than maybe after training at Harlington with QPR”.

              Had to chuckle at that

This has chnaged my opinion on him and he does look better to be fair to him.
Maybe the pilgramage was an excellent way to keep him away from the temptations of the bottle all summer.
Prepared to rip up the bad books and give him another chance, a fresh start. Lets see how he performs.

JFH has been saying for a while now how much he would like to keep him.

Clearly he has seen a change in the lad and feels he brings done thing to the dressing room.

If he plays to his potential could have a beast of a CB on our hands. JFH is the man to bring out that in him

Love a player who is decent both on and off the field.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:
