How many goals did Makele get in his career?
At least if you are going to play the goals per game ratio pick players who are expected to score goals...

He raises good points about the lack of goals on the squad.
That must be one of the lowest goalscoring midfields in the division and the defence don't score many either (probably more own goals there instead).
He has of course missed out Chery, who in fact does score frequently from midfield.
The strikers have not got a much better record either.
I don't agree that JET is a 10 goals a season striker based on his career record, because so far he has shown that he lacks the discipline and workrate to match his ability.
Washington does not fill me with confidence either and the decision to spend £3M for him should be questioned.
Polter however, does look capable of scoring 15 or so as long as he gets a decent supply of crosses and incisive passes.
Petrasso could surprise many of us but I would still have preferred to have signed a more established right winger by now.

CW I hope can hit a hot streak like he did at Peterborough. And I do agree, I think we're a right wing away from having a much better looking offensive side. Fingers crossed, but I disagree totally with Insiders reaction and think the side is better than he's willing to admit."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

Believe it or not we all want the same thing but others look beyond the football manager spend spend spend routine and accept its a business and books need to balance too

Reading this thread is like watching a western in which someone throws a punch in a saloon!
For what it is worth I believe that we will see a major change in ethos on the pitch as well as off it this season. Fitness and the ability to press/hold will largely determine our level of success. Ability (as daft as it sounds) will be secondary to the team requirements. In order for the pressing game to be a success every player must focus on the system. One or two donkeys could come good under the new regime. This season is going to be an interesting one, entertaining remains to be seen.

Quite a thought though if we lost polter through injury, then we would be in trouble unless jet or washington stepped up,but desperately need a few more in!

also love how again, you say "ever occurred to you strikers mature with age"... CW, JET, Polter are all 25 or under..."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value.
