After last weeks game I am fairly relaxed. If we lose the first few games, the transfer window is still open if we need it. Personally I think that our strikers (at this level) are good - Polter, Washington, JET and Greco-Cox).
Our goalkeepers and defence don't concern me to much at the moment. Our one issue is wingers. Currently Shodipo looks promising, but if he gets injured then there might be a drop in quality behind him, strengthening this would be nice, but maybe there is someone in the academy who they hope will be able to step up at some point this year.
Our only midfielder who I have faith in getting goals is Chery, but Prohouly has been on the bench in some games, and perhaps he can step up when required? We won't get relegated this year, nor are we likely to get promoted. Giving Doughty, Greco-Cox, Prohouly, Robinson (when fit) game time (plus Furlong and Kpekawa if injuries occur) should be the aim of the year, so that next year we are in a stronger position.

Haven't been on a message board for some time, but thought i would jump back in this season.
So, a bit like the Brexit vote this thread....If you voted out...you are a complete lunatic. The OP, is his opinion. Is it there to get a few bites? If so....6 pages on think he has succeeded. But in this day and age,is the best we can come up with ...troll or #### ? The art of debate appears to have got e right out the window.

Just to pick on a few points that i agree on....The Caulker / Lynch issue....Can we not shift Caulker? Would be a bit mift if i was JL.
Attacking options....we do look a little weak....Something we seem to have not addressed in years. Have to agree...Doughty to me will never get that much better,m but would like to see Petrasso Furlong and this new kid Shodipo given more chances this year.

Moving on from the last 4/5 years of splashing out on massive contracts and mercenary footballers( Sandro seems to the the last man standing).....i think we are moving in the right direction. It sis also going to be a slow re build(IMO) Reports back from the Watford game(albeit a friendly) seem to suggest that we are moving in the right direction...

So come on guys....if fans like insider want to post thoughts like this...lets knock them down with some well reasoned replies...not just name calling ....

If you want too know in charge then have a listen too the podcast as it quite clearly Hoos.
Clive explains it very well but for those who can't be bothered to listen he explains , we got away with FFP because of our parachute payments, Sterling windfall and Austin move.

This year the a 5/6 million difference in the parachute payments which the Phillips sale covers.

He said Fernandes would throw another 30 million at it but with this division being the strongest ever with Newcastle, Norwich, Villa , also Wolves , Derby and Brighton etc being stronger it be silly to spend that money get in trouble probably fail FFP get embargo next season and players on very good contracts , so they just waiting get the club in order ready too basically spend again.

        So just be patient

That´s the way. We can`t compete with the bigger clubs in this division. That´s why we have to build sensible for the future instead.

Forrest have been under transfer embargoes for a few windows now, not a place where we want to be.

Thanks for posting this! Didn't know. Very glad Fernandes is still willing to invest.

Everyone can have an opinion but I think most people are just shocked at how strong yours is InsideR, and about something so insignificant.

Your opinion didn't come across as an opinion... It came across as an unnecessary, pointless, aggressive, rant!

So your validation to exclude a player and forgetting him in consideration for goals is that "He will be marked tighter"... ok mate.

Hold us to those replies, you sound like what I assume a lot of Burton fans sounded like when JFH strengthened them from the back and look at where they ended up with that...

As for the people saying the guy is just making a point about not addressing our attacking "issues" and that's a fair point, just note that management has consistently spoken about how we're trying to get attacking talent and it's not easy. You lot think it's easy because you're not there trying to get the deals and the right players. People saying JFH and Les were strikers and that should (for some odd reason) mean we should be signing a striker... well, yes they were strikers, in fact they were 2 of the 25 premier league players to score over 100 goals in the division so they were very good strikers... and when they want to sign a striker, I'd imagine they're very thorough in looking for a very good striker as they have high standards... it's not bl oo dy rocket science. You can't just put money in front of a club and hope they agree, you have to scout, you have to negotiate and if the deal isn't right, you don't go through with it, hence the Bodvarrson deal and many others.

Then there are people saying we're in severe trouble this year without even having a teeny ounce of proof. You talk about how we don't have attacking options? 2 of our strikers who people already wrote off scored against prem opposition and hit the crossbar from a cross. They use other friendlies as validation for their concern but you're just going to ignore the latest one? Come off it people. Lets watch some football, see how it goes and then put these opinions forward when they are less knee-jerky. Right now, you open yourself to criticism and to those saying sh it like "Oh this is why people have left this site, because we're not allowed to have opinions", this is a pure knee jerk attempt at being negative for the sake of it.

And voyager, they don't get trolled, this is not trolling, the most likely trolling is the OP itself, the rest of this is people disagreeing with his opinion. If people weren't so sensitive, this board would have a lot more members, instead what happens is that someone puts forward a negative point, gets criticised for it and gets abused and becomes extremely defensive and victimises himself just so he gets support from people he knows will back him. If his point was any good, he'd be able to back it up and not rely on self victimisation. Lord knows the amount of positive threads on here where the positive view gets shot down and the same people backing up Insider now, are the ones criticising the positive OP.

Onto the more factual stuff, once again, JET started 10 matches of those 36, and those saying 9 in 36 isn't impressive and it's league 1 and all that... well his record then was actually a goal every 120 minutes, so even with some sort of correction for him being in the championship as opposed to league 1, a goal every 2 games or so isn't exactly bad... I'd say it's pretty brilliant... and for further proof, his record last season was a goal every 176 minutes for us which is just about right relative to where I have it as. If he stays a full season and gets more sub appearances etc, no reason why he can't hit 10 or so... same goes for Washington and Polter will score plenty more than most would imagine.

And then you say "none of our midfielders are creative" and then bring up their goalscoring record as opposed to their assist record... from open play, an in and out from the side Luongo managed 6 assists, Chery managed 4, Khayati managed 1 even though he barely played, cousins got 2 goals and an assist playing for one of the worst attacking sides in the division... Of our lot, none of them were even in the team consistently for the whole season (bar Cousins for Charlton) and they still managed all that. You say we haven't replaced our wingers, I'd say our left side will be fine this season with Mide and Nasser being given opportunities they deserve, getting in someone on the right and immediately we look much more dangerous than we already are.

Let's keep it real. We all know - Naz included - that there are areas where we're very thin, and we all know exactly where those areas are. That's OK, we have strengths too, but we are short in certain areas. That was the OP's point and most of us would surely agree with that, even if the detail was erm questionable.....

I really like how people who love a moan up totally ignore the fact Les has been quoted saying we will still get in two to three players.
Lets ignore thatmquote cos it suits us and it makes the targets of the whinging closer and a lot easier to hit.
Try and be a Hull or Sunderland fan (and lots of others) who have not purchased a single new player yet, that would be something to moan about.

We're thin on the right wing as a first team player and a backup attacking mid... We've got 3 solid strikers and if we get another it will be great, if we don't, I reckon we'll be fine.

                                So lee hoos is incharge.

He said a month ago that he likes to plan for the worst case senario.

By that comment, i wont be expecting too much spent on attacking options.

Very negative mindset that will ultimatly lead to negative results.
