It's ludicrous mate, the only clubs that can spend that sort of many in the champ on a striker, are the clubs that have just come down from the Prem.

The problem with some is, there is no structure to their thinking... As I said above, it's moan about one thing and then moan once again about the solution - you can't win with a select few, I personally think they do it on purpose but that's by the by.

Short-term thinking is what has cost us so dearly in recent seasons, and it's the same old few that go from moaning about short-term thinking, to moaning about long-term thinking.

Even if we had the ridiculous money to spend on McCormack in the champ, I'd give it 6 games before a certain few called him over-priced and overweight, stating we should be signing younger players at a reduced price... which coincidentally is exactly what we are doing now!!

And by the way.. we don't have £8m, £7m, £6m, £5m, or even £4m to spend on a striker these days!

I think he is a very good Championship player. Consistently scoring goals. worth £10m if he gets you promoted.. And if he can't do it in the Prem you could still flog him for a decent price. Would love him at LR but the days of spending that sort of money has gone.

Like him or not, the bloke is class at this level. Very astute signing by Norwich.
I agree, but I just cannot see QPR spending that money on a player again any time soon.

Of course, if they bought him and with the solid looking defensive set up JFH seems to have assembled, QPR would stand a very good chance of winning many games by a 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 scoreline.

Eh? Just come down from the Premiership. Last time I noticed, QPR were still getti g parachute payments. Not too mention having sold Phillips Fer and gotba load of players on big wages off the books.
They can afford to spend 10m on McCormack.

We've now upped our bid to £12 million and we're in talks apparently.

            Ruddy madness imo.

I reckon to build a team on the cheap side of things, get it right like it looks like we are, then go get a expensive striker or twos the way to go in the championship by looks of things!

Don't get Chaz involved in this, the fact is that the market was different when we got chaz for 3.5 mil. He'd just failed a medical, English players with non league backgrounds weren't the "In" thing and his style of play wasn't that of a supposed top striker. That's how we got him for 3.5 mil. Nowadays he'd cost us a lot more in the same circumstances so it's really a poor comparison. We won't be spending 5 mil on a player and nor should we be, we need to show everyone at the club they're on a level playing field and no one is getting preferential treatment because they cost more for example. That's what JFH has done so well with sandro for the moment and he needs to keep doing that.

QPR have done fantastic so far in the transfer window.

However, if we don't spend some money on a decent striker and winger then I would challenge our ambition to a degree. I'm not talking 10 mill on 1 player but maybe going up to as much as 6 mill for a striker!

I will find it very frustrating if we don't give it that extra push for these two key positions as we are so close to having a team that will challenge at the top end of this league.

You really have to understand how devalued he becomes with only 6 months of his contract. They're paying for his contract, and the the player had a desire to go to the prem. The deal was understandable. Ross McCormack is overpriced to us because we are used to the market before all this money. Norwich have new prem TV money and aren't involved in a legal case with the football league regarding overspending. They can afford to spend that money and as a result, they inflate the market. Nothing we can do about it but look abroad or to lower levels for goalscorers
