  • Squad for this Season

I've been having a look at who we have and where the squad needs strengthening, currently we have the following:
    • 2 strong keepers plus Lumley as back-up.
    • 3 decent left backs (although Robinson is questionable after his ACL and Kpekwa is still learning his trade).
    • 3 right backs (if you include Onouha as cover and we are satisfied Furlong is good enough).
    • 4 decent central defenders (if we are convinced Caulker will stay and work hard) plus Perch and Kpekwa as cover.
    • 5 Central midfielders (based on the assumption that Sandro and Tozser will leave).
    • 3 Wingers plus Chery who will probably play No 10 role. Jury is still out as to whether Mackie is still up to the job for me though.
    • 4 strikers (although I include Grego-Cox in this who may not make it at this level, and Washington who I think is rubbish).

Defensively I think we look in very good nick. What I think we need now is a bit of creativity in the final third, some pace on the wings and 1 more strong option up top.

Who are the three wingers? Petrasso, Nasser, Gladwin? Shodipo may get a chance this season.

To be fair, I've missed one. It's actually 4 wingers - Gladwin, Mackie, Petrasso and El Khayati. Haven't seen much of Shodipo, is he any good?

We need a box to box midfielder with a tackle and a goal in him, plus a proper striker that takes a risk in the box, always on the front foot. I think they will flog Smithies just before season starts.

As much as I hope not I think you may be correct, Ingram is more than capable though so if we could get 5-7 million I wouod be happy if that went straight to another offensive player.

He has been.good in under 21s and pre season ive seen.him in, very composed infront of goal. I expect him to stwrt against Swindon in League cup and perhaps end up like Petrasso, getting the odd game. Better than Grego Cox who sadly looks like he wont make tje grade with us long term.

Yeah, something has always smelled to me. I know money comes into it but why would you quit first team at Wycombe to sit on the bench at Rangers? We might have bought him for the future and loaned him back, that would have made sense, but I think someone has been sniffing around Smithies for a while.

Is Gladwin really a winger? few times I've seen him, its hard to work out what position might suit him.

                    CM by trade.

                    Side positions: AM & LM.

When I've watched him play I've actually been thinking "Is Gladwin really a footballer?".

                      Ha ha

Haha he has impressed in moments but yeah I agree not been great. I think he is meant to play AM but he wont get infront of Chery and I do believe he is meant to be able to play across all three positions just his best is AM.

He's no number 10 at this level, that's for sure.

Maybe the truth is he's a League 1 or League 2 player that has found himself too high up the food chain in the Championship. Either way I haven't been massively impressed with what I've seen of him.

I think that is the truth. Luongo always looked the better of the two and has still lived up to it.
