Have read a report saying he's rejected the chance to be manager on an interim basis as nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. He knows it won't be popular and would be on a hiding to nothing from the off. Can't blame him.

Yet we had Rooney marking the bloke who they threw it to, not once but every time.
Managed to concede from a throw and flick on which they have done throughout qualifying and this tournament.
Smalling and Cahill looked lost when their strikers went and stood on Rooney and Dier so they had no simple pass out.
Sterling playing on the left when he clearly has no left foot at all, so couldn't utilise the space round the side.
Sturridge on the right who will always cut in, which ruined Walkers attacking game-one of the big positives previously.

Real basic stuff that we got wrong.

thought it was a joke, but quite a few reports out there.....Are we seriously going to get a bloke who managed a cycling team to manage the England football team? Quite possibly the most idiotic thing to happen at the FA is this happened and that is saying something.

                  • FA don't have a clue.

Hoddle is from another era, he won't cut it nowadays. Remember when Sky asked him for his Spurs team a few years back and he had Andros playing no. 10. No thanks..

                    • Just keep thinking what Eddie Jones has done with an under achieving, variable talent England squad. And, crucially, how he did it.

                      1) Get the basics right - movement off the ball, retention of it (ie unforced error elimination), support ball carrier (availability), quick transition.
                      2) No one takes the shirt for granted. EJ subs non performers early doors. End of.
                      3) Cut out the suits and talking heads, minimal coaching staff (see 1).
                      4) Relax, enjoy, get a few in.
                      5) Past transgressions (ie discipline on and off the field) are forgotten, if you are good enough you will get picked. Down to you to keep the slate clean.

                      State of mind thing.

                        Yep, agree with all that.

Just like Trevor Bayliss did with the cricket team.

Maybe we need an Aussie head coach.

Eric Cantona appears in video for Eurosport.com saying why he should lead England's national team, in which he vows "never to lose against a small frozen island, where the goalkeeper is a movie director and the assistant coach is a dentist!"
