We're loosing a lot of money on these players. We expected 15 million for CA and got only 4 million. We sign JH for 4-5 million and he can leave for free. We paid 8 million for Sandro and we may get 1.5 million! I am not expecting much for Caulker, Phillips and Fer either, so we are only benefiting their wages.

I think we'll get around 3m to 3.5m for him. He's still regarded as a good player who did wonders at spurs before his injuries, is only 27 and could hopefully shake off his injury issues so to a club like Sporting it's a pretty straight forward deal with little risk if it doesn't pay off.
All that aside, it would be interesting seeing Townsemd there too

to be fair... we paid £8m for 3 years of sandro - so a third of that (£2.7m) would represent breaking even with him having a year left on his contract. we paid £3m for 3 years of charlie a, so £0.5m was breaking even - we got £4m (less the £150k we needed to pass on to burnley), so a profit given how little he had left on his contract.
what we need to do is to start turning a profit on players on a regular basis. the truth is, our income isn't big enough to sustain a championship wage bill - we need to buy cheap, develop and sell at a reasonable profit.

doh!!!
according to google translate:
Sporting wanted to hire Sandro to Queens Park Rangers, but the high salary of the average Brazilian to derail the transfer.
The 2.5 million annually are an unbearable amount in Alvalade, where the intention passes right by reducing the wage bill in order to balance the club's accounts.
Despite the mutual interest - Sandro also welcomes a possible move - the current values do not allow to reach an agreement, because the West Bromwich Albion, a club that represented the Brazilian on loan from QPR, promises to present a proposal by the average.
(while it's probably quite an appropriate phrase, i guess the portugese word for 'midfielder' can possibly also mean 'average')

in retrospect, £8m was a lot of money for a club our size to pay for an injury-prone player who had never managed to hold down a starting place at his previous club. we really could do with having a daniel levy of our own.
