  • QPR very popular in Sweden

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious or repeating an earlier thread, but according to a letter in today's Mail, the R's are very popular in Sweden.QPR became particularly popular in the mid 70's when Dave Sexton's team missed out to Liverpool by a point for the 75/76 First Divisiom title.
QPR's distinctive hooped shirts appealed to the Swedes and local supporters are known as the Swedish Hoops. They still meet in Wistroms Pub in Stockholm for televised live games and regularly organise trips to England for matches, supporters games and stadium tours. There is also a very active market in Swedish QPR memorabilia.

I wore my shirt when I was walking around Oslo last month on holiday. Didn't get any reaction. :(

You are absolutely spot on. QPR- Derby, on the 13th of December, was the first time QPR were shown on telly here in Scandinavia.. Phil Nutt scored a goal for us. I´ve never heard about this player, by the way.

Norway & Sweden have always been top 6, out of 109 countries this month. I'm talking about every month the number of visits per country.

I go to Stavanger a few times a year with work, and take scarfs out there they hang in their pubs and bars. I've come across a few QPR fans out there.

we've always been popular in Noway & Sweden true it all stems from the 70s the Rs always used to do a lot of pre season tours to that part of the world, I believe some time back there was a poll in Norway and we were the second best English supported team there behind Liverpool, can't remember how long ago though

Not top-5 in Denmark, but we are 5!

It is not about the quantity but the quality of support after all... ;)

Yes, our "Leicester" season in 76/77 created a lot of support in Denmark, as well as the years with Terry Veneables as manager in 80's...
