Yep. If we had an abundance of creative midfield talent I would get it (I would not want to keep Ale based on sentiment at all), but he is (IMO) by far our most creative CM. Gutted he is being let go tbh, but I can only hope it means we have our eye on a decent CM to replace him. Wish him all the very best and I don't think he will struggle for a club.

Good player, great man but what has he done this season? Nothing of note really, we need to move forwards.

We also need squad players mate. Also playing alongside Henry and dominating a game is very different to playing alongside a Lansbury or a huws or more on your wave length.

Faurlin is easily good enough to be part of most championship squads.

Pretty sure a Lansbury or Huws would be a Faurlin replacement as they are similar players but Lansbury actually scores goals. Do you think JFH would really get rid of a player he thinks is going to take us forward?

Indeed they are, Ale can pass and defend and Karl can just defend. I know who I'd rather have. But if the club makes the decision, I'm putting my faith in them. Would rather he gets first team football somewhere else than be used as cover here. He's too good for that.

'Indicated' being the operative word, so by no means confirmed.

I think all 3 could and maybe should have been retained as squad players. Not first team regulars but fill in when needed.

That article is ridiculous and contradicts itself.. Says hasselbaink indicated faurlin not needed with absolutely no back up whatsoever then further on says the Rangers hierarchy are keen to keep faurlin. Of course today he's been released

I'm not sure how it contradicts itself. By 'hierarchy' I take that to mean the board, not JFH.

Sad to see the guy go but if the management feel it's time for some younger blood then that's how it is. Let's not forget, Ale has had 3 cruciate injuries and is now in his 30's. In reality every time he steps onto the pitch could be his last game.

Personally I think Jimmy must have 2 or 3 central midfielders in mind. Next seasons centre mid options could look like Comley, Doughty, Luongo and 2 or 3 new faces. Gotta be some positives in that? For me, I've personally had enough of seeing Henry & Faurlin as a central midfield partnership. Tried and tested this season, they just aren't mobile or dynamic enough to boss the midfield at this level!

Now all we need to do is find a team daft enough to take that waste of organs Tozser off our hands!

Unsure on this one personally. Feel Faurlin has been decent this season but if the club feels we can bring in better quality in the summer then i understand the decision. Will need to see how the summer pans to be able to form a true opinion on this

You're going by the idea that Faurlin and Henry would be the duo next season. Faurlin and any of those youngsters you've listed has the potential to be a fantastic midfield. All of them are dynamic and in combination with one of the best ball players in the division, they'd make a very well balanced midfield duo.
Even forgetting his immense footballing ability (any time players have been asked about him they call him one of the best footballers they've played with, coming from Barton and Hoilett to my recollection), his journey is nothing short of magnificent and he'd inspire so many of our young midfielders. No one but Clint can match his heart and the effort he'd put in for this club. That alone is immeasurable in a world of mercenary footballers.
As I've said on another thread, they'd better have some new up and coming Xavi 2.0 to replace him because that's the only sort of player who is good enough to take up his role.

Yes I do actually. He's just done it.

Look he might bring in some good players he might not. But sentiment aside Faurlin is good enough to stay and be a squad member next season if not first 11.

I think jfh has got this completely wrong. Let's hope he has got some decent replacements actually signed up or this could really come back and bite us.

I think the point being missed here as well is that we can all understand there is argument about is he a first 11 player but surely not about being good enough to be a squad player. Someone you bring on for 30 mins or play in a cup game or when injuries happen as we all know they do. He would easily be able to step in and actually offer a decent level of quality and experience.

I still believe if he was in the first 11 with the right partner he'd help push us on up the ta me next season.
