  • The Thoughts of Chairman Fox

I attended last night in the Brighton end. A friend of mine won tickets for Brighton's match against Fulham late last week and went to that as well so could compare the two.

Until the first goal both sides played reasonably well and were a good match. In fact I would say we even slightly edged it. We got a lot of the second balls and were well set up. However we simply didn't turn up for the second half. So not all bad although awful final result, particularly if you were sat in the home end!

We can learn a lot from Brighton. Not spent a lot but seem to have an excellent scouting network both in this country and abroad. They have unearthed some good players. On the pitch a good balanced side with pace in the right places, exceptionally well drilled and organised. Every player not only seemed to know their job but those of the players around them. As with Fulham once they went ahead they stretched us in wide areas and killed us off with ease, notwithstanding our seeming lack of interest and drive. If we can take the time to build over the next two seasons and get some stability no reason we can't replicate this.

Not read online comments on game as was there and not had time. Henry put in some good crosses but we lost possession any number of times because he was out of position and got confused. I would argue at least partly not his fault. He simply isn't a wide player. Have seen a thread criticising Washington. Thought he played well first half but anonymous in second. In my view he needs someone alongside him. Luongo probably our best player. Smithies should have got to their fourth goal, at least looked like it from where I was. First three goals were in fact very good to be fair to Brighton, second a real corker.

Ned is coming in for some stick. Deserved Fox?
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble
Into the arms I love the most

Yes and no. As a right back he was solid but not much use going forward, simply not his position so adequate and did his best. As a CB got pulled all over the place second half so deserves some stick for that. Part of the reason he got pulled apart was all game there was no cover provided in front of the RB so he was constantly being diverted that way when he switched position. Liam Rosenior was given freedom of the ground and was very effective. Henry being played on the right offered nothing in keeping him under control leaving us very exposed on that side.

agree with that an basically, Ned aint a RB and Henry cant play on the wing. Knew all of that months ago, so not sure why we keep trying it.

          i think

NOW WE KNOW THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT WARNOCK VIA HIS WIFE IT DOES PROTECT FERDINAND AS HE DID TRY TO KEEP WARNOCK
BUT WARNOCK WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT HIS WIFES CANCER HE WOULDNT COMMIT HIMSELF TO QPR

we are in with a good shout to offer him a three year contract with jimmy floyde as his assistant, that would mean a definate
improvement with out letting down jimmy floyde

being exiled in scotland during the week i have been to a fair few scottish midweek games generally the standard is championship level at best, But Hibs have a decent right back called David Gray..played for Burton Albion in the past ..27 so not young but looks better than anything we have at the moment in that position
