Way too early to write off Washington. Like many on here, I wrote off Polter after his first few games but I've been made to eat my words. I'm now of the opinion he's a very useful guy to have in the squad. Washington I'm sure will be the same after he finds his feet.

I do however think we need a real, first choice, goal scoring striker. I'm not sure either Washington or Polter will ever be that. A few have mentioned Nakhi Wells, maybe but I'm sure he'll be pricey given he has forged himself a bit of a reputation at this level already. The time to have bought him was when we were linked with him 2 seasons ago.

Whilst I do agree ref patience and seeing what he can do next season, that Austin "drought" was 5 games, whereas Washington has made 11 appearances for us now (I think?) and not scored. Also, Austin's record pre-QPR was unreal at every club he had been at, including having proved himself at this level. Washington had a fabulous record in the lower non-league before scoring 5 in 39 for Newport, followed by a decent spell at Peterborough. Totally unproven at this level and thus could simply not be upto it.

I will reserve casting a proper judgment until he has a run of games though (starting, not off the bench), hopefully it is simply a confidence thing and once he gets the monkey off is back he will be away and not look back.

i really dont think washington was what we were looking for ,i thought we needed a big physical striker up front to do austins job i thought jet was better than washington i only value washington at about 500 thousand tops,i think we have paid two million over the top

Perhaps let him start a few games and see how he gets on rather than the odd ten minutes.

He was one of our better players last night. He will come good with a run in the team. Start him on Saturday when we are going for the win and it could be his day. I dont know why we just jump on players/managers so quickly and then expect them to be amazing and give their all for the fans.

Washington is decent, but not in the system we play. Thats the issue, we've bought a player who can't fit to a one-up-top system. We dont ever look to get in behind so he is wasted.

Has a bit of pace, is a trier but can't play him up top on this own. Needs someone else to give him more space. Personally think he has some promise.

A lot of his goals for P'boro seemed to utilise his pace running on to balls in behind, other than Faurlin we don't have anyone with the vision to play those balls

What a great striker her was/is.

In regard to Gino ( I prefer than to Denzil meself), I agree, clearly patience is required. I saw him score a fabulous goal for NI a few weeks back, so he's got it in him. However, if we're going to make a promotion push, we also clearly need a proven striker at this level (or above). It would be a massive boost for the club, players and fans to sign someone of this ilk and well worth the extra £££ to do it.

Poor result, very poor and queue a massive over reaction!! Can't understand why some are so keen to bin players off so early. The club has made an investment and one they have to work on to get the best possible results. He might turn out to be a terrible but he isn't a Bos###### or a Traore give the lad a flippin chance!

blimey, everyone seemed to like him before yesterday and said he just needed a bit of luck and to get a scrappy goal from somewhere. one game later its "get rid".

I like him and still think if he gets a goal he will kick on. cant understand people who want to swap him for someone in the lower leagues. His record before was fantastic, so would be taking the exact same risk as before.

We don't need someone extremely fast, extremely hard working, extremely tall. Austin was none of these and he always scored. Why? Because he was one of the best finishers in this country and his positional sense was unreal. That is what we'd need at this moment, someone who can take one of the few chances we manage to create and just finish it off.

Or we could break the mould and try adressing the real issue which is a #### poor midfield who effectively create #### all. That to me seems the more logical long term option. You can't score if you don't create

were they decent chances though? Cant think of many where you would think he should have definitely buried that. I guess you could argue Brighton didn't have "clear cut" opportunities and still managed to bag 4.

Think the problem is probably a bit of both. I can see how we will struggle with Polts and Washington as our two options, as they seem the polar opposite of strikers in my eyes. The whole team has to play differently based on who the one up top is.

In any case, we need to spend some money on a decent striker this summer regardless.
