For the record, I have NO interest in closing down debate. Far from it. I like debate. It's the lifeblood of this forum and all discourse.

I might be coming across pedantic here, but you ask to call it a day in part of your comment (i.e. closing down a debate) whilst also claiming that you have no interest in closing down a debate. I know that the fans are split between those who wanted NW as manager and those who are supporting JFH, but there have been times when expressing support for NW has meant that you have been portrayed as disloyal to the club which is disappointing (not necessarily by you)
Southport - mate - you are being pedantic. I'm simply asking if we can call it a day on this aspect (i.e. what my motivations are, etc etc ad infinitum), not the discussion as a whole. Asking, mind you, not demanding. Big difference! And thanks for perpetuating it! Aggghhhhhhh.

Although of course, you also are entitled to your opinion. And in point of fact, that's now three of you in this thread who've tried to close me down. Aren't I also entitled to my opinion? Shall we call it a day on this particular aspect now? Because I am sincerely bored of having to defend myself.
you do this with every other subject on here aswell. Everything that comes out of your mouth is fact apparently, therfor can not be argued against.

The only MOD i really cant stand reading anymore and it wont allow me to block.

Oh, how strange, I thought we were having an argument. So sorry to have upset you RIG. It's funny, I actually enjoy most of what you post. Oh well. You can't please everybody. I hope you've enjoyed bashing me in this thread, I must admit it's been really great fun for me.

Think ye are being harsh on Hubble here fellas...I know ye will see it as mods sticking together but I've honestly never noticed him as someone who shuts down debate. The arguments can become heated but both sides give as good as they get IMHO.

Ditto. Each to their own but I think Hubs is one of the better posters on here tbf, enjoy his posts.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

And if 'this place' doesn't feel like an open environment, that's in your mind. It is not a reality.
Firstly, the very existence of this thread invited opinions on the relative merits of the two individuals concerned. Agree?
Secondly, opinion is all any of us can offer - bar Naz ;) - since the thread was asking a hypothetical question. Agree?
Thirdly, because it is in my mind, it is on some level 'real'. And the reason it has been in my mind is because comparatively I do feel this place has a slightly closed feel about. That is my opinion.

Opinions are OK, even if you do not share them. Agree? I'm glad you have the time to mod, but without opinions this place would cease to function.

                Yes Hal, I agree.

I think people forget us Mods do this job voluntarily and a lot goes on that people don't realise. It can be quite a thankless task at times, as this thread has proved!

And thanks Brian and Matty for the support!

What people tend to forget above everything else is that we are regular posters like the rest of the Forum only, for various reasons, have been asked at one point or another to be part of the admin/moderation team. That role is to ensure the board runs smoothly within the boundaries of decency and Forum rules. Being a mod has nothing to do with being pro or anti Warnock/JFH, pro or anti TF or pro or anti anything relating to on-field and Club for that matter.

When people have a bash at our opinions on such matters the comments always seem to be barbed with the, because your'e a mod line. That is nonsensical in my eyes. Whilst Hubble has strong opinions on various things I don't think he is shutting anyone or anything down and his views are based on his opinions as a Rangers fan, not a voluntary moderator on an internet forum IMO

With you, Yes. Think you are a troll of the highest order and wouldnt be surprised to find you your a 13 year old boy who does it for a laugh.

regarding Hubs - clearly an intelligent guy, just dont like the way he puts his opinion across as fact and wont ever see the other side of the argument. strangely enough Hubs put a link up a while ago with an extract from his book that i thought was good, since read the whole book and commend him on it.

Well that's good to hear RIG! I admit I can be forthright at times, but seriously, I am totally open to hearing the other side of any argument and will concede if I feel I'm wrong. I think you're referring back to that climate change thread where I did get quite aerated in regard to what (71?) was posting, but don't forget, we ended up agreeing with each other in the end (finally worked out we were actually quite close on most things).

Anyway, very glad to hear you liked my book!

I think for your sakes wouldn't it make more sense to do it anonymously? That way you won't get people suggesting that your opinions are skewed based on your roles? Not that I at all agree with them on that.

For the sake of clarity who is suggesting that mods can't express their opinion? Who on earth has suggested any mod's opinion is skewed by their role? Whatever their opinion is. I happen to think that one mod is one of the best posters on here. What I do object to is having an opinion misrepresented. And I think having that done by a mod is worse that it being done by another poster...... But, as far as I am concerned, that's the end of this matter.

But my point is to eliminate the prejudice that you have made here in suggesting that a mod doing it is worse than a normal poster doing it, surely not making that information available will ensure fair treatment of everyone. The idea that Hubble shuts people down has been made worse in your eyes because he is a mod, so eliminate that information.
