Some deals could involve subsidising their wages to get a move, while players like Sandro and Fer could well go for considerably less than we paid for them. With the loss of Sky money and the reduction next year in parachute payments I doubt very much that Tony and co will be thinking "great, we've saved so much money, lets go out on a spending spree." .
    Exactly.

From what I've seen he's a squad player at best. Can play, but we haven't made good use of him. He's never a number 10. One goal all season from Faurlin/ Henry/ Luongo/ Tozer....... Very few assists, too. Two I can remember from Luongo. Central midfield has a real problem for us. Comms make the point every game. No matter what permutation plays. And it doesn't matter if we win or lose. Or draw 1-1. Central midfield can often be decent defensively, but offers nothing offensively.

Very much disagree with this, Luongo's got 5 assists, makes quite a few dribbles every game and generally pushes the ball forward well. I think he'll do well along Faurlin more consistently but it takes time to adapt.

If you're happy with that you're very easily pleased. We don't have a central midfield. It's that simple. And, other then ten minutes per game, we never push the ball forward well and rarely score from a telling midfield pass.

I think we have a farily good spine to build on for next season with players who want to actually play for us. I hope we retain faurlin, hill and henry as squad players to add to that mix and use when needed. I don't think it's such a rebuilding job this summer where we need to flash buy but a case of picking up 6 or 7 savvy acquisitions of championship standard players who add a little extra quality.

            Smithies

            perch ned hall robinson

            faurlin henry

            luongo chery naser

            Polter

We potentially can field that 11 as a starting point if we retain faurlin and henry. It's about looking at that 11, various formation we can implement in different games and then trying to bring in 4 or 5 players to compliment this team and push it on to a team capable of challenging top 6.

I reckon the 11 I put out above would be top 12. To push it on to a top 6 team I feel we could be stronger the DM/CM roles and I would like to see at least one high profile and championship ready signing in this position, ideally two. We will need to replace hoilett and phillips adequately with similar standard players if possible. We will also need a another cb if we dont re-sign Angella and probably rb cover.

If we really want to go for it I would say this is harsh on Polter and maybe washington but if we want to challenge for top two id like to see us go and buy a top striker for this level.

5 well thought out quality signings could really propel us to be a force next year with a couple of players added for squad rotation. We aren't to far away from challenging again imo and I think the board will back JFH.

New pacey full backs, a centre mid and a winger needed. That's all we need IMO.

Id like to see Faurlin & Henry as squad players next year. Diakite will be gone and hopefully we can move on Tozser. We need a quality holding midfielder who is not injury prone. Not sure about Perch as starting rb...been very good on the left though. Don't think Luongo can play that rw role and yet to be convinced by what El Khayati can do though seems promising.

                so

                Smithies

                NewRB Onuoha Hall Perch

                NewDM Luongo

                NewRW Chery El Khayati

                Polter or Washington

Presumably Philips & Hoilett will leave though Id keep both if terms were right...1 year for Hoilett..contract extension for MP.

I have to fervently disagree with you on Faurlin, for me, he, hall and chery are the only three people I think should be absolutely guaranteed a starting spot when fit. He's the best midfielder in this division when he gets consistent game time.

Fair enough..I'm a big fan of his but don't think he has the legs to play consistently throughout a long hard championship season.
