Rhodes meanwhile for the last 3 seasons going back has had a minutes per goal record of: 217.9 for Blackburn this season, 167.3 last season and 160.72 the season before. Add on to that the fact that 10% of Polter's 1239 minutes have been as a substitute, whereas in his last 3 seasons, Rhodes has had only 1.08% of his 9710 minutes (again, not including his time at middlesbrough) as a substitute, meaning he's got more time to actually integrate into games and influence games.
Give Polter the same amount of minutes as Rhodes got in his 45 match season where he managed 25 goals and on his current minutes per goal ratio - which I am certain will improve over time based on the fact that he's never played in England before, he's not really had a consistent run until recently and even then its been sort of stop start - and you'll find that Polter would total 19.54 goals. Not at all bad for someone who's never played English football before.
I think people are not reading my posts and, to be fair I've always liked Polter and think he has a lot to offer for us. The guy is just what we need right now and whats even better is that he IS scoring goals for us.
Scoring 12-15 goals in a season is a good return for the type of player he is, it really is. Given that our midfielders are scoring now and ideally our second and third strikers should be getting 10+ as well.
We all see football differently, I dont see Polter as the type of striker who sits on the last man and will make a run off the ball. I also dont see him as the fox in box week in week out like Chaz was.
This doesn't mean he wont score goals like that, because he will and that is because he is improving and is becoming a good player for us. Ultimately he is a target man, he's big, strong and quick enough to chase a ball down the flanks putting pressure on RB / LB.
One thing is for sure he slowly becoming another target man that has come good.. Furlong, Helguson, Zamora and now Polter. Helguson is a great example, 10-15 goals in a season with similar attributes.
If he hits 20+ then superb, I am all for QPR and polter smashing it for us!

The bet isn't if he scores over 15, its if he hits the heights of 20+ IMO. As said the geezer will hit 12-15, but 20+ is the big boy territory.

How about I'll give them a score if he gets lower than 18 goals? You donate if he gets 18 or more?Top Scorers 2018/2019

I feel we should donate regardless now Ging, its a great cause, but I wont be betting for 18+ Goals because there is every chance he may score more than the 15 limit i've put on him.
I stand by what I said though, he wont hit 20+... How many did Adel hit when we went up?

Look I really like the BFG, he gives it his all, wears the badge with pride and is exactly what we as a club / team require in a player right now. He will be massively useful next season as well.....
BUT he has his limits and he wont score more than 12-15 a season, he is not a Jordan Rhodes who is currently struggling to settle at Boro.

And Lastly 12-15 goals for a striker of his level in the championship isn't bad, thats very good!! As I clearly said I like the guy and want him to do well I just cant see him scoring 20+ in the league for us personally. Sure i'll eat my wonderful Pie, but I am not quite sure what I am eating it for :S

Point:
- He will score 12-15 goals.
- He wont score more than 20+
They are two very different things tbh... I think he we will hit around 12-15 goals for us next year, but to say he will score 20+ is a whole different level. Scoring 16,17,18 isn't unrealistic but its not quite the same as smashing 20+ goals.

Anyway guessing arbitrary numbers on the amount of goals he will score is somewhat pointless, the fact he is scoring under Jimmy despite the problems this season is promising and bodes well for next season.

Originally posted by Hove Ranger View PostI understand what you're saying in that 15 goals is realistic and 20+ goals is only for the top players, I dont completely agree with that point. (in that a difference of 5 goals over a 46 game season isnt a big enough separation to be able to distinguish levels of players.) Maybe the confusion came from your previous contradicting posts.

Can I state, I truly hope Polter scores 20+, why wouldnt I?
