  • Why has it still not sunk in that Hoillet was never a winger?

and that all the criticism aimed at him over the last 3-4 years is irrelevant, as he was originally a CAM who plays thru the middle and that's how we signed him, playing on the wing and crossing was never his game. so why are people saying he's now turning up to play for his contract, when only recently, he's been put back into his original role?

Don't know where to start with this one....................

'Criticism irrelevant over last 3 or 4 years'.........

It's painful how fickle football fans are on here, its laughable.... Ohhhh, Junior the saviour because he curled one into the top corner for the 1st time in 4 years!! For what it's worth that goall came from him coming in off the left.... His supposed un-natural position....

I'd probably also go back and look at him at Blackburn and where he played before stating CAM was his original position...
One things for sure though, you won't be getting a job on the coaching staff any time soon haha.

Junior's criticism is more than deserved for the previous seasons. His distribution in general as a footballer let alone a winger or cam has been shocking. His criticism is justified as much as the credit he is now receiving for his recent upturn in form.

We have many fickle fans on here as someone else pointed out. There is no case to be made for Juniors last 3 years at this club. JFH said at the fan forum that junior is putting himself in the shop window. To me that explains why he is finally putting a shift in.

Holilett isn't playing CAM, Chery is.

I'm sorry but I don't get your post, Chery has been playing CAM, Hoilett has been a winger & he has deserved his stick over the years for getting say 40k a week for not a lot.

I think Les said he's putting himself in the shop window which for me is worse because he has been under performing for years & not caring if this is his caring now to stay on top £

I wish Hoilett well this season but after unless he agrees max 20k a week he can sod off in my opinion

                  Bizarre post.

Fot the record i'd offer vastly reduced terms for Hoilett on a 2/3 year contract, doubt he will take it as without a contract he calls the shots and there's always another mug ready to pay him £50k a week (Stoke, Newcastle...)

Not wrong, even other country's like China, America, Dubi, Turkey offer great terms for duff players. Don't forget we shifted Ferdinand, Cisse, Bosingwa, MBia, Park etc to these silly teams!

One of the problems for Hoilett was that in 2012/2013 he had a hamstring injury and missed about 10 games. As we know these injuries can take a long time to clear up. Jamie Mackie had the same thing at the beginning of the season as did Charlie Austin. Both players have had problems recovering from these injuries.

I'm not excusing the fact the Hoilett did not play well for the first three years he was with us, but I do not think this helped together with the constant change in management.

This did not help his confidence. This season he decided to play for Canada and he has played consistently under JFH.

On another subject, JFH said that Junior's wife had a difficult time whilst giving birth. I hope everything is going well for them now.

I read in an old article that last season the club was trying to get rid of him but nobody wanted to pay his salary of 45K a week. That might have changed due to his performances this season.

Interesting point you make. I think he is a winger but lately he has played more through middle and it suits him much much better.

Hoilett is only 25 so I think he'll be in Europe for 3-5 years.
