Tom Carroll, did those fans calling for him, not go to games during that era? he was king awful. Way to lightweight and played 1 forward pass from 20. I really wonder what fans look for it a footballer. Just because he played for spurs against some 2nd rate kasakhstan side doesn't make him good. I'd look at Carroll for sure from the prem list, he'd fit the requirements that we're looking for perfectly; then from the champ list, Elmohammedy, and Spurr might be solid options but I looked at the list and saw our old boy Fabio is on it as well. Would people be interested in bringing him back? From the prem as well a few interesting ones are Flanagan (although I suspect he'd stay at liverpool or go to some mid table prem side) and Darron Gibson.

In any case I do like the idea here but we could also look at players with just a year left on their contracts and I compiled a list for that as well here:

I'd say none of them, as probably our absolute priority would be FFP. Look at the good unknowns we have already, there must be plenty more out there at a fraction price of the established fore-mentioned names
