Either JFH really has motivated him since he has come in and focused on him or it's just 'ironic' that his best form for us comes when his contract is due to expire.........

I think the reason behind his good form is that QPR now finally function as a team and not a bunch of individuals. Imagine having seen all those mercenaries coming and going. It can´t have been a particularly pleasant experience for a young and talented player.

Interested to know fans views on Hoilett - Was going to make a thread and poll on it but seen there was a thread the other day on him.

Been one of the biggest under performers for 3 and half years of his 4 year contract, deciding to now turn up and perform in the final 6 months of it.
Personally, I don't care how good his performances have been of late, I wouldn't be fussed if he left and we got a few million for him - He is a professional and he should of been performing like this way before JFH came in. 50k a week for 4 years, only to turn up in the final 6 months and show some potential... No thank you Junior, there's the door IMO!!

I think we could use the money to bring in another play maker.

If he leaves at the end of the season we would get nothing for him. But I wouldn't be bothered. Totally agree with you, it's funny how the contract is running out and all of a sudden he turns up. A lot of fans are easily pleased, this geezer has drained the club for 3 and a half years. The club has to take a portion of the blame because the wages at 50k is ridiculous. I've heard a lot about him being offered reduced terms. He won't take that. He will be on a free transfer and he will be able to earn what he is earning now.

          Laters Toilett.

You could look at it as the last line or you could say, well offering him good but reduced terms keeps an in form player while reducing transfer costs we'd have to pay in order to bring in new players. I personally would like to keep him and, if he keeps the form he has until the end of the season, he'll have shown a level of consistency worthy of a new contract on decent terms.

I will give him a 2 year deal. We have to keep in mind that he played a huge part in us showing some potential. Remember that Ned signed an extention to his contract LAST summer and I assume he is not on cheap money! What's the point in building something and trying to keep momentum, to dismantle all this summer and start all over again!

Depends how you see a level of consistency... 20 matches in a row inside 4 years isn't enough for me to be impressed. We needed him like this in bigger matches that have gone by and too often he has gone missing. I don't forget the past so easily and don't forgive so easily as a lot of Rangers fans do - Football fans are fickle and slightly embarrassing sometimes with the slating of a player for months and then the praising of him again, when he does a stepver and smashes one into the top corner.

For what it's worth, I think we will offer him 15-20k a week new deal but I don't think he'll accept it - He could get more elsewhere and could probably do a bottom half prem team a job with a decent manager who will look after him.

Equally embarrassing only look back and not this day and tomorrow. And he has done a lot more than just one top corner goal.
Nasser makes an interesting point: keeping him would save about £1 m transfer fee. That would enable us to make him a good offer of 30k a week. Like JFH said makes no sense to have 10 new players every year.

JFH already said that hoilett's put himself in the shop window.

That says it all to me. He knows we wont pay the money he's after. He probably also knows that other teams aren't so willing to pay his45k or 50 k a week salary or he would of gone in the summer when we was offering him to clubs for free.

Hoilett has knuckled down because he's playing for his future. If we resign him it will be a gamble but I honestly think the only chance we have is if no one else comes in and pays him the money he wants. Maybe then he might think about us.

Fact is he has drained the club for years and has only started to perform when he has been told he wont be getting a contract from us.

We should definitely try to keep him on a reduced wage now that he's finally starting to show some consistently good performances. My concern is that without Phillips and hoilet we lack creativity. Are their players a) available and b) that will come to us that can provide that creative spark.

i'm not that sure that he could get that much more than £15-20k a week.

we are talking about a player who has been relegated 3 times in the last 5 seasons, who has not particularly proven the potential that he showed earlier in his career. i doubt many teams would offer more than £18k a week for him.

he's well thought of in germany, but away from the champions league regulars, wages aren't so amazing in the bundesliga.

north america is another option, but even then, there's only 10-15 players in the whole league that get more than $20k a week.

£30k would be madness in my opinion, but i guess we need to see last season's accounts (if they ever get published) to get a better understanding of what the club might be able to afford.

Personally and I think most would be with me on this... It would be bonkers giving Hoilett another contract on 30k a week and making him our highest earner, when he has been missing for 3 and a half years of his current 4 year contract - It would be scandalous actually, not bonkers.

A string of better performances and some are treating him like a hero - The same 'some' who have been referring to him as 'Toilett' for the last 3 and a half years.

Don't think he will get what he's after elsewhere.Only shown form in the Championship lately.Good goal for his fiftieth shot with nothing much to show.

So, we kept him for four years on 45k a week and doing little during that time, however, we are ready to get rid of him on less money and on good form! Some logic!

Rid of him on less money? - Has he signed this new 20k a week deal then?! Something I don't know??
One good bit of form in 4 years is hardly a good return for your money though is it, that's why people are fussed about getting rid.
                                It's clearly logical.
