I think we are all happy Smithies is doing so well but with Green why does he not sign a new contract till the end of the season without the clause? Or why does he not go put onloan even if QPR paid 80% of his wage, it would still be helpful

He can Foxtrot Oscar.
He's been on 50 big bags a farkin' week for God knows how long - and this year he was total shyyte.
If he was so bloody hungry for first team football - he would have taken a pay cut and moved when he had the chance.
So don't go bleating to the Daily farkin' Mail about how farkin' hard life is you farkin' mug.
Typical modern footballer........

I was one of a very few how was happy when his contract expired, I still don't get why we kept him?
anyway, it's clear that the negotiations for green's contract renewal were poor from the club's side and, it appears at least, there was a great deal of spin flung our way about how green's wages had significantly decreased from his initial contract and that there was a substantial relegation clause in there.
looking at this sorry saga, it's easy to see how the usual suspects can come to their conclusion about the board from the negotiations side - that we're finally taking the necessary steps to bring at least this particularly bit of our shambolic recent past gives the 'overly positive' crew cause for a bit of optimism too.
