  • Green interview in the Daily Mail.

MATT LAWTON: Rob Green no longer appears to exist. He is not named when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink lists his roster of goalkeepers at Queens Park Rangers during media interviews.

It's lovely you want to play Rob, but unfortunately you're to expensive, to error prone and you've been replaced by a young, talented and frankly fantastic keeper.

You're time at QPR is up.

Have to agree, Smithies has been magnificent since taking over. Green shouldn't be getting a sniff.

"He remains a paid employee at Loftus Road, and comfortably the best goalkeeper at the club."
"Imagine a relationship that went wrong but you held on in there for years: that's what it is like supporting a football team. Your loyalty to a team can never die. Ties are stronger than they could ever be with a woman. If she goes and sleeps with your best mate, it's over. If the Rs' boss, Ian Holloway, slept with my best mate, QPR would still be my team. Even if many of the things that you loved about going to matches have gone - terraces, team shirts without sponsors and being able to smoke at grounds - you still stick with your team." - Peter Doherty.

sorry... although i know i should ask about the thing that makes my heart ache (greeno's sadness at having to pick up more money in a week of doing very little than i get in a year), i really have to ask, why does he feel he need to have himself photographed wearing a parka with the hood up indoors?

This made me laugh, clearly a journalist going on name only and having watched at best a Green highlights reel from this year.

to be fair, what made me laugh was the thought that this journo will soon be spewing out an article about how much money money we waste as a club... difficult to feel much sympathy for people who will never need to work again after they hit 40. very disappointed with green deciding to drag the club through the gutter press. as others have pointed out on other threads, if he really wants to play, he could either agree to terminate current contract or renogotiate existing contract to remove he clause that is stopping him playing. he's done neither... he's bleated away to the fail while wearing a parka indoors with the hood up.

I'm pleased he had this clause in his contract, otherwise he would continue playing and Smithies would not have had the opportunity to show us what a good goalkeeper he is.

Jane your spot on clause opened door to Smithies who is a superior keeper

Would also add Green has some front suggesting only reason he's not playing is because of this clsuse!!! So nothing to do with the ongoing errors, being unable to do the basics and being a band average keeper. Very lucky and fortunate to have kept his place as long as he did so stop wining

Actually dropped my phone I was laughing so hard. Did Green write this article himself?

                      Strongly agree with both.

Our club don't have much luck, but happened to be one of them and that's how I look at it now.

The thing that upset me about Green was he was making out he cared and loved playing for us, it was just one big lie.

I feel sorry for Green, has found himself I'm a really s**t situation - however, Smithies has been nothing short of incredible since he came into the side. Feel a lot safer with him between the sticks.

Picking up 40-50k a week for doing phuck all. What a terrible situation he finds himself in.

Its funny this article has popped up when you consider Green has gone on record as saying he views football as just a job, with no passion involved.

Hahaha Klonky I was thinking exactly the same. I was trying to find a link to the Parka ...thought the article might have a small line saying Greeno fills his time auditioning for Jimmy from Quadrophenia for the Feltham amateur dramatics society or something.
