That's true, would still be on the same money.

can only guess that either he insisted on being first choice (or at least in contention for a start) and/or we pushed for too big a share of his wages being picked up elsewhere and/or any clubs that were interested in him had a look at this messageboard to see how he was playing.

Green is 36, way past it and at the end of his career. Next season he's going to be warming the bench at a premier league club probably so his playing days are over regardless, this is just one last big payday for him

Who cares? Great win tonight and we've got a solid keeper between the sticks. Forget about Green he's gone in the summer.

                Thank God he didn't.

Thankfully we won't have to play him again, even if Smithies and Ingram were injured still.have Lumley and the polish guy. Smithies is ten times better than Green has been this season.

Which is probably the simple answer.

He knows he can no longer be considered as first choice, the club know too, so even if he did offer to remove that clause, he would only ever be on the bench from here on in.

He is one of the remaining relics from a failed regime, he will be gone in the summer with Traore, Sandro and Fer. No one is going to just walk away from £50k a week, and it was the club that agreed to his contract. Agree with others Smithies looks a better keeper and we have hopefully a solid back up in Ingram. I will always be grateful to Green for the play off final win, he was superb that day but he has had far to many bad days over the last two seasons that have really cost us at times so time to move on and our last two home matches show me we are moving in the right direction at last. Now please beat Brentford on Saturday!!

Wonder what he does now? Does he even train or turn up on match day, anyone seen him?

I think it was Clint in a recent interview saying he is still training as if he were playing, turns up, trains, goes home. Not much more he can do. I imagine his agent is making a few calls as we speak lining him up a deal for the summer.
