We'll get back in the Prem one day and when we do, we'll be much better placed to stay there this time - With this fresh new approach, with a young manager.

Jimmy feels like the man for me - It finally feels like we have a squad of players that know he is the boss and that it will be them leaving and not him, if they do not perform.

Onwards and upwards with this young team! Very excited to see how they develop and improve.

Weren't we in a similar situation when Warnock was brought in (the first time)? One tier lower than Leicester, but we did have a similarly amazing season. Especially considering that we got automatic promotion and Leicester might yet slip a few places down the table by the end of the season (which I hope they don't).

And ever since Fernades took over, it's been one hapless #### up after another. Even winning the play-off was a poisoned chalice because it meant we kept the Albatross that was Harry Redknapp, who inevitably wasted more millions and took us straight back down.

We are now in a worse shape than when we were promoted in 2011 and basically it's back to the drawing board. In regard to the OP - yes, we could be out of the Premiership for a long time. I'm certainly not holding any expectations for a speedy return. The plan now, as I see it, is for JFH to build a team of skillful younger players who, along with a few more experienced and talented players, have the potential to form a cohesive, effective squad who may (or may not) win promotion. This is the model that several other teams have used effectively - but there are no guarantees. I don't expect us to go up next season. The season after, I hope we'll at least be challenging for a top six place.
while i don't think fernandes has done a good job of running the club, i don't think tango and cash did such a great job... when we got promoted they only brought in cheap crocks and spent the summer trying to flog fatty taarabt (then considered our best player) to psg (and no, this wasn't because they were footballing geniuses who could see he was a difficult one-season wonder, it was because they wanted to cash in before selling on). had they stayed, we might have beaten derby's all time lowest points tally and got through about 10 managers while doing so... we'd never have got anywhere near a second promotion.

Yes, but they didn't stay, so it's an entirely moot point.

That's just a cop out of a valid point. The idea is that this is better than the alternative solution at the time. If you're willing to totally ignore that just because it supports your point more, the fact of the matter is, We are most likely in a better position now, than we would have been if things hadn't changed and that is relevant.

slightly different the first time around with colin... we were 20th (2 places above the relegation places) and he took a fairly decent 20 points from his 14 games in charge (improving our goal difference by 1 goal in doing so), by way of comparison, leicester were bottom of the table with 14 games to go and picked up 24 points from those games (improving the goal difference by 8 goals) - leicester even more impressive when viewed over the last 10 games of the season picking up 22 points and improving the goal difference by 11.

what is more important to remember about colin is that, during the following summer, he was able to bring in a group of players who knew one another and were willing to put up with fatty taarabt's antics in order to get promotion as a team. it's arguably this kind of professionalism from the non-fatty taarabt players that we've been missing during these past 5 seasons... too many primadonna types who think they're bigger than the club and haven't been willing to muck in (don't get me wrong, warnock also made a bundle of bad transfer deals that seem to have been airbrushed from history). the results are obvious - the team warnock guided to safety would have picked up around about 65-69 points across a full season with a goal difference of single figures and would have just missed the play-offs, the team he put together managed 88 points and a goal difference of 39 goals.

That's just a whole load more of 'what if'. Do you understand the term casuistry? You're a master of it.

Do we not all know by now that Nasser loves a paragraph of 'what if' scenarios.

We're most definately 100% not in a better situation now than when Tango and Cash were at the club. Not to say we won't be in the future, but right now not a chance in the pit of Hedes.
