Sorry he has made 52 professional appearances - Kozakken Boys are an amateur team
Ahhh thought there'd be some kind of negative answer to this.

I'm sorry but what does what you have just said prove? Nothing. It proves nothing as to whether he will succeed or fail - Its just more negative drivel.
There are countless other examples other than Mahrez out there as to how these type of signings succeed and work.

I'm pretty sure JFH is 100 times more qualified than yourself and has seen this player up close more times than you to make a judgement as to whether he is worth it. Which pretty much makes your negative opinion irrelevant.

    • Not against this signing at all but would like to see us go for some more players already playing in the Championship

      • I'm surprised it hasn't occurred to more fans by now that we are obviously trying to balance the books and the times of spending high transfer fees are over.

Expect this type of signing from now on... Which I imagine is going to be hard for some fans to accept and understand, what with us signing internationals a season ago.

            • Personally I'm not too sure about this signing but I will give him a chance as I can remember not being too over the moon with Hill, Derry and even Mackie 5 and a bit years ago and they turned out alright.

For me it probably is his age but then Vardy never played a league game until age 25 and he hasnt don't too bad as well. We just have to trust the manager and for such a low price it could be worth the gamble.

I agree. But some still want us splashing cash on "better players" it seems. Haven't learned a damn thing.

Yep, no way should we be signing players in the same division as us. League 1 and 2 is our level now.

                  • Tbh I've given jfh a fair amount of stick but I think this is great business.

He plays out on the wing most of the time and isn't a striker which some papers and sites are reporting. He's technically good and he can deliver a decent cross.

350 k is a snip. Glad the club are doing business like this.

Hope we get that roofe too.

I think it's a lack of understanding for some fans as to where we are at right now mate. We're trying to balance the books and with the market now being ridiculously extortionate you can't even sign a decent Champ player for under £8m! Fans say they want decent Champ players but it just isn't going to happen for the sorts of figures being banded around nowadays.

I was contrasting him with Mahrez, whom someone said was also not a big name when signed with Leicester. The difference is Mahrez was almost 5 years younger and had more professional appearances. This doesn't mean that El Khayati won't succeed with us, he made a step up a year ago when he went to Burton and has done well there, but one year ago he was on trial at Reading available on a free and wasn't deemed good enough. Whilst we support the manager and his judgement, this is definitely a punt that doesn't seem to initially improve the team. If we lose Austin, Sandro and Phillips in this transfer window, and lets assume Green won't play again, then it is fair to say that the football team is worse than we were a month ago (even if the books balance better) and if we get an injury to Hall and Onouha then suddenly we might have a problem with relegation

If you honestly think we will get a decent player from the Championship for £350k you're barking.

Championship players aren't blooming cheap mate! Hitman seems to think otherwise though! I would've thought balancing the books, falling in line with FFS and avoiding transfer embargos and what not would be more important than splashing out on a good championship player that may or may not be decent.

Well of course we are worse off then a year ago! We got relegated and are now a mid-table Champ team. Surely you weren't expecting us to be better off squad wise, then when we were in the Prem? I refuse to say whether this player will improve the team when I have never seen him play. I'm up for punts like this on low wages and low transfer fees coming from a team top of League 1.

Like a lot of negative football fans, you highlight issues you are not happy with but very rarely offer an opinion on a solution.
The books NEED to be balanced and whilst we do this, we will not be spending millions on players like previous years... We are where we are at and if you and other negative fans on the situation have an alternative solution to signing promising players we can develop on low fees (whilst we balance the books) then please provide it because I'd be interested in hearing it.

I said we we were off when compared with a MONTH ago, not a YEAR ago. This is probably the only signing I have been disappointed with. I liked signing Blackwood and giving him a chance, I liked the idea of getting Luongo and Gladwin when they didn't gain promotion with Swindon. I was predicting all sorts of crazy victories at the start oof the season as I was filled with unbridled optimism, so am unsure why you are labelling me a negative fan. Yes I don't really see this signing improving the team so I query what the benefit is.
