I really dont see why the figures are so disbelieving to be honest.

Hes a free agent, who would of interested all prem clubs outside the top 4 (maybe even the top 4 for the english quota), Charlie and his agent knew that so would take an unbelievable offer to prize him away mid season.

Wages at 90k isnt that unbelievable considering we paid about that for Cesar when he was our keeper, and usually when a player is on a free clubs do pay an inflated signing on fee as there is no transfer value. Usually clubs pay 5-10% of the official transfer free as signing on fee.

All in all Austin for 10m transfer fee is a steal considering the goals he gets, and obvious resale value. To put into perspective 12m gets you shane long whos a 10-12 goals a season striker.

What's the point of endlessly speculating. He's probably on 50k+ bonuses or more but he's worth that so good on him.

For some perspective they spent 12M on Shane Long.

That's exactly my thought process as well Chiswick, that's why I believe it.

Bottom line is he ain't with us anymore.................time to move on. Wish him all the best, I really hope he does well and I am sure that it is a great contract for him and I hope for him it is as good as that. Footballers get crazy money we all know that, with Charlie you are getting a proven premier goal scorer which makes the fact that Sheff Wed want Rhodes at 12 million ever more stranger so maybe the sums are not that far off. Let's hope Washington has the same impact as Charlie did, that's what really matters to us.
