I think they should sell if a reasonable offer comes in and that is far from a given! Just a few weeks back an argument could be made that he was worth keeping for the chance of promotion, that ship has sailed!

It really hasn't mate, three or four wins on the trot and we are top six! It can happen cos we have to go on a winning streak soon after all these draws
Wonder would we be top six already if the games were only eighty minutes long

Id be hugely surprised if Austin isn't a Leicester city player by the first week in January.

Chaz is going nowhere in january and why would he? The only teams likely to pay money are teams around the bottom. Chaz will walk in the summer and choose where he wants to play and brtter teams will be sniffing around for no fee.

Well we'd only be 4 points better off if games finished on the 80th minute.

So the top of the table would look a little like this, if only matches involving QPR finished on the 80th minute.

              1. Derby (47)
              2. Middlesbrough (47)
              3. Brighton (46)
              4. Hull (44)
              5. Burnley (41)
              6. Wednesday (36)
              7. Brentford (36)
              8. Birmingham (36)
              9. Ipswich (35)
              10. QPR (34)
              11. Cardiff (32)
              12. Reading (31)

I think the club took a big gamble by keeping him and hoping his goals would at least give us a realistic chance of the play offs. I don't have a problem with that and at least it showed some ambition.
The problem that we do have, imho, is that although we have some big name players in our squad, we look a very average side without him.

I think nobody wanted him for the asking price, that's all there was to it.

yes! was always a gamble to keep him in the summer. now its looking like we wont be in a promotion chase, let him go if we get offered money.

Was worth the gamble imho, no1 matched our 15 mil valuation, which i thought was fair at the time.

chas will be off in january surely someone will take a gamble on him , get some millions now or no millions in the summer . i reckon there is nothing wrong with him and the club are just making sure he don't get injured £££££

We are now stuck with a dwindling asset and shows the shortsightedness of posts in the summer that said "keep Austin/ invest in the squad/ equals promotion." If only it were so easy. Ask any of the burnt out volcanoes - Wolves, Leeds, Coventry, etc etc - that never made it back to the promised land.

                              Definitely.

Move Austin on (along with some others) and start building a proper balanced team that doesn't rely on one man.

Koeman (Southampton manager) said in his press conference that the only position they are looking to strengthen in January is up front due to Pelle and Rodriguez being injured. With Charlie's desire to stay in the South (apparently) then this could be a feasible option
