Technically one of the best English footballers to play the game in recent years imo. Good player, I wouldn't be against it.

As a 16 year old at Derby he was thought of as a potential footballing centre back and I'm pretty sure he played there for England youngsters, maybe even Derby first team if I remember right. Spurs bought him to play in front of the back four which is a position we don't use. I don't know how JFH set up his previous teams but this may be what he has in mind 4 1 4 1 or a diamond?

He can ping the ball around the pitch beautifully and he would certainly add something to us. However 4.4 mill is alot and as others have said if we are to part with big money I hope a striker is the priority before cm.

If we sell someone like Caulker then we're not overspending. By free kicks I meant where he can deliver them - clear the first defender for a start, and in the danger zone - not necessarily shooting for goal, and what's the point of another striker if we don't create chances? This may all just be rumour of course, but I am happy to trust JFH to change our playing style. He's been around at the top and must have some ideas new to our club.
