Pretty penny there if they structured sell on clauses properly!!!!

I haven't double checked, as I can't really be bothered, but wasn't all that nonsense on the first day of the season (with Stanley, Trevor, Marc B etc all on walkbout before kick off) to mark the 50th anniversary of Rangers wearing hoops? Clearly it went over several heads or just mine.

I think it's almost irrelevant whether Reading wore hoops first to be honest. They'be been so long down the tables that anyone associates the hoops with the R's whether they like it or not. Whilst we are onto Hoop/Reading Rangers related trivia, it is a fact (trust me) that there are only two teams in the football league that never have to change their first kit if they don't want to (i.e. could insist on tyhe opposition changingtheirs ). Reading are one. Starter for 10 is why and 10 more for who is the other one?

I think that's an urban myth because they are resident in a "royal" county.

Preston are the others as first Champions of the League. IIRC

Notts County are the others as they were founders of the football league

Dead impressed with the speed that came back. And you are right that the Reading thing is (probably) an urban myth. Somewhere I think it was rumoured that they were established under Royal charter or something (hence the nickname of the Royals I suppose) and it must've grownto "fact".

On the 2nd one I think pc1401 is right. Notts County - for the reason s/he suggests - was the answer I have always had. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was less than an absolute rule too. But of course now I will have to look out a source and come back on it.
