  • Tabb from a Reading perspective....

Posted on NewsNow this morning.Funny how Reading call us the "fake hoops".Still, makes interesting reading..........Tabb set for loan move?
I really hope this rumour is not true, but Jay Tabb could well be on the verge of a loan move to championship rivals QPR. The dynamic midfielder has found himself out of the first team picture in recent weeks and hasn't even been on the bench for the last 2 games away at Preston and at home to Middlesbrough.

He impressed in midweek for the reserves, scoring in a 3-1 win, and there is a strong rumour that the fake hoops are lining up a deal to take him on loan.

However with the Royals struggling, many fans would much rather see Tabb back in our first team. His non stop running and energy are what has been missing in our midfield and loaning him to a rival team would be ridiculous.

Didn't QPR have hoops before reading did?

So that makes them fake hoops,, plonkers
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Nope - they had them first - sadly.

But they've messed with their home kit so many times that no-one really knows what their home kit is.

I know this really irritates them but both Martin Tyler and John Motson described them in live tv games when they were in the Premier League as "wearing QPR type shirts". Ha hahahahahahahah take that!!!

Thanks Gee. Do think he is a good player and if we clear out all the dead wood like Mahon, Ainsworth Ephraim and Alberti (who I actually quite like but clearly doesn't figure in the manager's plans) he wd be v gd at left back but also well capable of slotting into midfield when needed.

I think Reading's very first kit in 1876 was blue/white hoops. We initially played in light blue/dark blue halves, white shorts, brown socks and then changed to green and white hoops, played in those for the best part of 30 years until the change to blue/white hoops in late 20's early 30's, which have remained since aside from a flirtations with white shirts in the 50's.

One of those historical football kit websites will have the answers.......url here but I've not checked it. The above off the top of my head!

Tabb is a very talented player, i know alot of reading fans and all of them rate him...

Im just wondering how another midfielder will fit in! Unless ofcourse he is going to be played somewhere else out of position.
Cant believe it, ive been PWOPER MUGGED ORF...

It could work!! Surely though before we get any more midfielders in some have to leave!!??

Striker imo should still be our number 1 thought!

According to Reading history Nodge only a few years out...1871 - but changed in 1894 when entering southern league to stripes..so not to clash -they reverted to hoops untill beginning or ww2 - when numbers on shirts became compulsory - after that they had several changes.

Seems to me they dont deserve to wear hoops as they kept changing..

Agree - also if Rowlands keeps getting injured or suspended.I liked Tabb each time I saw him. He's brave, tenacious and skilfull, not unlike Watson. We were also linked to him before he left Coventry for Reading.

Also scored about 1 goal every 6 games for Brentford between 2000 & 2006 and got his fair share for Coventry.
