With the vast wealth at their disposal, THEY should be doing better. When they start to run the football club with a little more savvy and a little less "enthusiasm", I'll be the first to congratulate them on a job well done. Wiping off debt that they created is not a reason to congratulate the board, although it does maintain the financial security of the club for the time being. Being successful in business gives you absolutely not a single right to be successful at running a football club.

People don't mistake passion for idiocy. They see the idiocy right in front of their faces. Signing so many players coming towards the ends of their career on massive long term deals is the dictionary definition of stupidty. Look, just ask yourself this question - in the nearly 25 year history of the PL, has a single other newly promoted club attempted to survive in the division using the same tactics we have? The answer is an emphatic "No." That should tell you everything.

As regards "I told you so"....I won't be one of them. Believe or not (and I know that this may be difficult for some of you to understand), I want to see the football club doing well regardless of who's in charge. It pretty much comes with the territory. Tell the 50,000 Geordies who can't stand the sight of Mike Ashley that they don't have the best interests of the club at heart. Fans are critical because they DO care - if we weren't bothered, we wouldn't bother. I just appreciate that there was a time for us before TF, and there will be a time after him as well. The quicker everyone comes to terms with that the better.
You've hit my point exactly where I expected. Let me ask, what's wrong with enthusiasm. These aren't footballing people, they bring in people who are. Unfortunately for them, they took advantage of the club. Then you go and say something ridiculous like signing so many players coming towards the end of their career on massive long term deals. They really didn't. The only over 30's signed on contracts over 2 years long were: Cesar, Zamora (2.5 years), Cisse (2.5 years), Luke young. That's it. So people who say stuff like this are just wrong.
There really wasn't much of a time for us before TF. There almost wasn't an 'us' before TF.

Glad I didn't disappoint you. For what it's worth, you simply enforced my argument that all pro-TF posters only seem to remember the late 90's.

OK, so what's wrong with enthusiasm? Obviously nothing, up to a point. It does however become an issue when it starts to cloud your judgement, as it clearly has done with Fernandes time and time again to the detriment of the football club. I could give you multiple examples of this, but I'm fairly certain you know what I am refering to anyway.

As regards player contracts, actually that isn't it. Barton was approaching 30 when he signed a 4 year deal, SWP was 30 when he signed a 4 year deal, Jay Bothroyd was 30 when he signed a 3 year deal, and Bosingwa was a week shy of his 30th birthday when he signed a 3 year deal. Add that to the 4 players already mentioned, and it's fair to say that actually I'm not quite as wrong as you think. You also shouldn't need me to tell you that all of them had seen their best playing days, and that at least 6 of them were amongst the highest earners at the club at the time, on contracts north of 50k a week. For someone who appears to pride themselves on their attention to detail (when it comes to the entirely misleading world of statistics), you clearly have an astonishing ability to select certain facts to support your case, whilst ignoring others. And you call me ridiculous?

The owners are not kind uncles with bottomless pockets, they are businessmen that royally f*cked up and are incapable of improving the situation without sacrificing something. In this situation we are redundant to them, they need to save their much more important Asian undertakings right now, sell QPR for damage limitation and just move on. So we need to show maturity and move on as well, instead of desperately clinging to the kind rich uncle Tony and Co myth and verbally assaulting the growing numbers among us who no longer subscribe.
Don't know what's got into you lately, I really don't.

The first point is complete nonsense. In fact, I would say it's exactly the opposite, that the gutless ones are those who attack people from behind a keyboard. You seem to be suggesting that those who acknowledge they have made mistakes but also their desire to put them right are the ones without the balls. Heaven forbid relying on the mentally weak that give up without a fight.

As for the last point, it's no more verbally assaulting anybody than simply disagreeing with them. What can be more verbally assaulting than a non-stop campaign full of vitriol and false accusations, appearing in almost every thread about them?

A fantastic gesture by the owners which should be more than enough to shut up certain people who have been assuming that they have saddled us with debt and were about to jump ship. Thank goodness they have a bit more backbone than those that snipe at them from afar.

Don't know what you are getting into, but you forget the key phrase of hindsight. Was Barton's contract a bad idea? Not really, especially since he was free. SWP was 29, make sure you learn the order of the months of the year. Irrespective, I think many of us wanted him here at the time. And then you criticise my fact finding, get yours in order, Bothroyd was signed by the previous regime. Make sure you are right when you try and break my numbers. I did also say, very specifically that 30 or over was the threshold. You seem to disagree with that, and that is your choice but don't go and call my facts selective? No no no, yours are just wrong from the get go. Then you say at least 6 of them were on contracts over 50k? All I know were Cesar, Barton, SWP, Bosingwa. Cisse was unlikely to be on that much, same for Zamora and Luke Young. So make sure you detail your facts better when you criticise mine. For the record, you are ridiculous, but that is not what I said in the first place so make sure you also improve your comprehension skills when reading my posts. Nas, your not trying to defend the signings are you? Because you won't get much help from your mates there. They were awful.. Doesnt matter how old they were. I know your a big supporter of the QPR board but you are allowed to say they have ####ed up on many occasions.
                        C'Mon You Supaaaa!!

No no they did with some, but I'm saying that there are far too many people who are going to criticise certain people more than they should. Zamora got us back into the prem, Cisse kept us in the prem, Barton made many mistakes but he was a decent player. The mistakes were SWP, Bosingwa, Young, Cesar (only in the long run, he was incredible that season though). But the point is that they have made mistakes, but Surrey is insinuating things that are incorrect. He could say that SWP proved to be a bad signing, but instead he takes the route of getting his facts wrong. They definitely made mistakes and I have definitely said so many times in the past, but that is the nature of the beast.

                          • It seems Surrey Hitman and Kiril still won't let it go. The debt has been written off. With the financial strength of our owners there was never any doubt we'd be safe. It was their money and they lost it. That's business. It wasn't owed to dodgy offshore banks. Yet for years the three of you have waged a tireless campaign against TF, who incidently owns less than a quarter of the club.

We've got no debt and hopefully still planning a new stadium and training complex. Still need to get it right on the pitch now.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Lets just end this thread here. This is the right place to do so.
