  • Fantastic gesture from the board.

Yes they've made some absolutely monumental fkuk ups, but they've also been very decisive in rectifying those mistakes, and that should not only be acknowledged, but they should have massive appreciation from EVERY single QPR fan.

Because your cyber opinion is so well valued.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

There is a reason they own it and have the money to just write of millions in debt. Its because they have money. How do they get that money? By being smart and passionate. These guys didn't inherit stuff. They built stuff. But some people's fantasy jealousies of this make them think that they are bad for the club. You think they are bad for the club? Guess what, in 20 years of this club, we haven't done much better than what these guys have given us.

Its sickening to read people say that these guys don't know what they are doing. People mistake enthusiasm and passion for idiocy. He's made mistakes but I think people don't like him because they think he's fake or more likely, because some fans believe positivity should be fround upon at this club (Trust me, I definitely know about this). That's just wrong. That is the idiocy. And Surrey, I can 100% tell you now that people do want their I told you so moment. 100 Percent they do. No one will ever admit it but its the truth and they know it. So what do they do? they bash more, to make that moment even sweeter for themselves. Its a joke.
Nasser, for someone whose username & tag line suggests a preference for facts/evidence over belief/opinion, you maybe have overlooked something in you in your sentence "These guys didn't inherit stuff"

Were you aware that Ruben's dad is a USD billionaire? Are you confident none of this money has ever been bestowed onto his son?

Prejudice is a great time saver. You can form opinions without having to get the facts.

Well exactly Jimmy. The one thing we all care about is the club, and this action makes sure the future of QPR is assured.

              • I don't know the ins and out of why they just wrote off £180m of debt, to add to the £60m previously. Personally I think it is to clear the decks for a sale, as a club with that much debt would be unsaleable.

It could also be to clear the decks for any potential FFP in the pipeline. Mohammed Al Fayed did this at the flumps and fair play to him for doing so as well.

Maybe the club just want to get rid of the debt, draw a line in the sand and try to move forward from here, that's certainly what I hope as who knows what sort of Karl Oyston could be lurking round the corner to asset strip.

Either way its a fatastic gesture by the club and a massive burden off Qpr's shoulders. Everyone should be happy with this news, if you're not then I pity you.

                • It wouldn't make no difference if they wanted to sell the club with the 'debt' still there or not if they were going to wipe the 'debt'. They didn't need to tell the world they have wiped the 'debt' to sell the club, they could of just told the potential buyers the 'debt' would be payed off to its lenders before they go. This could be a gesture of we are in this for the long run the more I think of it, as it's done nothing really but made true qpr fans feel on top of the world and a lot more safer about the future of the club they support.

                  • It's great they've written off the debt. A debt they created by profligate spending and poor management.

That's the way it should be Dave but sadly, I tend to disagree that some of our fellow posters care so much about the Club as their own egos. I can picture several individuals sitting in their string vests with meat in hand just waiting for us to implode so they can say "told ya so". Sad but true

I don't know what they actually value, I thought I did 4 years ago.
The sooner it ends now, the better for all concerned in the long term.

...yeah seems to be the case Blue. Tony I feel never deserved the flack he got anyway, but we'd get some posters using the debt as a stick to beat him.... Geng. .....well not anymore.

I'm interested to know where this leaves the FL in their dogged pursuit to make an example out of us regards ffp.

So is that what the argument is descending into? "You couldn't do any better". Well, you're right, I couldn't and I certainly don't fantasise about doing so. But that isn't the point. With the vast wealth at their disposal, THEY should be doing better. When they start to run the football club with a little more savvy and a little less "enthusiasm", I'll be the first to congratulate them on a job well done. Wiping off debt that they created is not a reason to congratulate the board, although it does maintain the financial security of the club for the time being. Being successful in business gives you absolutely not a single right to be successful at running a football club.

People don't mistake passion for idiocy. They see the idiocy right in front of their faces. Signing so many players coming towards the ends of their career on massive long term deals is the dictionary definition of stupidity. Look, just ask yourself this question - in the nearly 25 year history of the PL, has a single other newly promoted club attempted to survive in the division using the same tactics we have? The answer is an emphatic "No." That should tell you everything.

As regards "I told you so"....I won't be one of them. Believe or not (and I know that this may be difficult for some of you to understand), I want to see the football club doing well regardless of who's in charge. It pretty much comes with the territory. Tell the 50,000 Geordies who can't stand the sight of Mike Ashley that they don't have the best interests of the club at heart. Fans are critical because they DO care - if we weren't bothered, we wouldn't bother. I just appreciate that there was a time for us before TF, and there will be a time after him as well. The quicker everyone comes to terms with that the better.

                            • Those fans that have the guts - expose the current owners.
Those that don't - attack these fans and make QPR even a greater laughing stock.

The owners are not kind uncles with bottomless pockets, they are businessmen that royally f*cked up and are incapable of improving the situation without sacrificing something. In this situation we are redundant to them, they need to save their much more important Asian undertakings right now, sell QPR for damage limitation and just move on. So we need to show maturity and move on as well, instead of desperately clinging to the kind rich uncle Tony and Co myth and verbally assaulting the growing numbers among us who no longer subscribe.
