Absolutely - but maybe not for us.

This piece doesn't tell us anything new, but when the total is added up there is no getting away from it, an eye watering amount of dosh.... and football wise we're still below where we were at the outset. On the plus side the vast bulk of our indebtedness was effectively written off, and for that we have to be thankful.

A quarter of a billion: only Abramovich and Mansoor have injected more, and both have had that much more time in which to do so. We got the sort of investment that other supporters can only dream of, which shows just how bad the decision making process has been.

That is exactly why we have to get it right this time round and why some people are questioning the reasoning behind what appears to be close to a done deal. In business it's all about exposure to risk. I think this is a very risky appointment for reasons given - not least that for the first time in ages we're just beginning to get it together on the park - but good luck to all concerned. They'll need it.

And if JFH is with us then that's another Derbyshire club that will put us on their hate list !
Which Derbyshire club would that be as Burton is in Staffordshire.
A mute point I know but I've never shagged a sheep,I prefer to let the Staffordshire bull terriers loose on them

Is les again looking to give a coloured manager a chance rather than looking at who is best for us right now.

It's not the race card as hasselbank has done a very good job with button and I'm sure he would be on a lot of people shortlist.

Surely a Pearson type of character should be first inthe que before hasselbank on genuine merit and not because we are looking to lead the way in opening the door for more ethnic mangers to be given the top job?

Hope this doesn't offend as not written too it's just a little worry I do have about Les.

                • Lets just hope if it's JFH it's because of football prowess and not because the DOF is banging the drum about Black managers again,

I agree but I think it is but JFH has said colour should not come into it, he said if your good enough you get the job, but I don't think it is LF view and he will carry on beating the drum I'm afraid.

Farking hell, the bloke hasnt even been appointed yet, let alone taken his first game and it is all LF fault already.

Think almost everyone is in agreement that JFH has done a fantastic job at Burton. People always banging the drum about us giving young players from the lower leagues a chance, but different rule applies to this potential appointment?

                      • This has actually become ridiculous. People are still seriously suggesting there were other motives beyond his quality as a manager? The man has a fantastic record, is very young and seems keen on the whole 'project' development concept that we are aiming to push. Les has chosen him on merit, age, lack of controversy. Put it this way, would Pearson have dealt with the speculation in a better way that JFH did? I'd definitely say not. Here's another thing to consider: Speculate that the whole period since we sacked CR and now was an audition for JFH. He's won 3 out of 4, beating two of the top 7 in the process. He's won with a clean sheet and he's won by scoring 5 goals. He's shown all the aspects in this short period of time that we have been lacking and for a manager who used to be a top class striker, his defensive record is quite magnificent. Imagine him combining that knowledge with his innate attacking ability and the quality we have and you may see some brilliant football. This is all obviously potential but we actually have reason to be excited.
This is also the first manager since NW who we've had to pry away from another club, a positive sign especially given that we've done so despite his team being top of the table. Note how our last 3 'unemployed' (in the specified capacity of manager) managers have performed overall compared to NW, you would be forgiven for being quite excited by the prospect of a 43 year old Dutchman taking over as the head coach of this club.
Now is the time to push on, to earn success, to earn respect and to earn a spot in the premier league, be it this year or next.

You are misunderstanding the reasoning behind the critique. We can only appoint people who are prepared to come, and previous decision making has effectively limited the supply of willing candidates - irrespective of race. Not just the DoF thing, the whole miserable track record under a well meaning but totally chaotic regime. Valencia's new guv'nor pointed all this out a while back but to be fair anyone who checked out the expenditure / results balance sheet knew.

                            • Looks like Warnock has given JFH the green light maybe Neil is having some input in the next manager when he talked to talk sport.

                              • A few users on here are drawing the conclusion that the DOF position simply doesn´t work. Given Les and JFL in priciple agrees on most things concerning players (where to strenghten and not) I would actually say this must be a fairly effective way of organising a Club. Only my opinion.
