It's a very peculiar cult this.
First there was the random clapping while he was out with a knee injury. Out with a knee injury I must repeat, not dead.
Then the half-time North Korean-style propaganda rallies, club officials escorting him out on to the pitch and interviewing him, hoping the spectacle would make us all forget the 45 minutes of #### we'd just witnessed.
Now we hear chants of 'Faurlin, Faurlin' when he's on the bench as though he is our miraculous saviour, when Sandro and Fer are clearly vastly superior players and should be starting week in week out. I'd also say Luongo is a better midfielder, significantly so.
Now don't get me wrong, I like the bloke, but does he deserve all the adulation?
Let's actually examine his career:
2009/10 - fairly good, although inconsistent.
2010/11 - excellent.
Since then - injured.
Does this warrant godlike status?
I know the lad's been very unlucky with injuries and yes his heart's in the right place, but he's clearly not the answer to our problems. It's controversial but I thought it was a mad decision to renew his contract.
From what I've seen of him this season he's looked weak and lacking in fitness. He also made some terrible errors against Rotherham which seem to have been completely forgotten about. Imagine if Konchesky had made those errors - there'd have been calls for his public execution.
I don't mean to pick on Faurlin - but what exactly is behind this peculiar obsession? And just to emphasise it's not really his fault - it's the fans. Some supporters seem to genuinely believe he is better than Iniesta.
*Waits for inevitable abuse*
