  • As Sullivan Leave Birmingham, Does this Apply to QPR Fans?

    Quotes he made today.

"People say we don't spend enough money on players, but what people don't see is the money spent on wages"

"and when you get beat by Blackpool home and away, and you have 3 players earning more than their entire squad, it makes you feel sick"

and this one which I think applies to QPR fans, even though he is talking about the Brum fans.

"throughout our stay we have asked for local people to join us and invest in the club, but no-one ever has. The Level of expectation is so high, yet whatever you deliver is not enough"

          Sir Les, bit OTT.

Not my words, those of the parting chairman of Birmingham City, who in my view is speaking sense.

we've gone over the reasons for the levels of expectations a million and one times. this is just another thread to drum up traffic.

what exactly is the point? should our expectations be to pay the most to watch our team and look forward to a shambles of a boardroom, losses on the pitch, more draws and couple of wins, resulting in a mid table finish? if so, whoopdef'ingdo, i am having a ball.

what do these owners expect? they take over the clubs, mouth off about what they're going to achieve and then cry into their silk handkerchiefs if the fans dare question whats going on with the club they love and what happened to the unfulfilled promises.

              that did make me chuckle

but its not solely about spending money its WHO you spend it on. we have too may players on big wages with long contracts that are not first team players.

we have an army of midfielders but we are still light up front.

someone is to blame. i can tell you now its not iain dowie, paulo sousa or jim magilton

Sorry Pete, i'm more frustrated with the crap these owners come out with than with you. They play the knight in shining armour and cant understand why they are not adored by all and sundry.

It's a four year plan and we are only in year 3.....

Am i right in thinking this season they said we would be in playoffs?

i thought the 4 year plan included the champions league?

Pete - Was it the fans who said they would be in the prem / champions league in 4 years of the cowardly cheat, was it QPR fans who offered to pay more or the cowardly cheat who said we will have to pay more for the better match day experience etc, etc.

The level of expectation was raised to justify the hike in match day prices and the general malaise surrounding W12 at the moment is a direct result of that.

But Sullivan is referring to a point in time where they had a squad of players on Premier League contracts playing in the Championship. Of course they're gonna be earning more than Blackpool (promoted from League 1) players. Incidentally, Brum also had the parachute money and Premier League sponsorship deals in place but yet STILL charge supporters 35% less for match tickets and season tickets in the PL than we currently do for 12th place draw specialists in the Championship.

Briatore, Russell and Paladini set the expectations with the silly pricing and treatment of supporters, not vice versa. They created the situation, they must handle the expectation and pressure that their statements and policies have produced.

Absolutely NO comparison with Sullivan whatsoever.

I thought the 4 year plan was just the Premier League.

Yeah lets get rid of them all and go in Administration. I cannot believe how negative some people are.

And I can't believe how some people are so naive to believe we'd automatically be in administration.............:boss:

Nodge, We weren't exactly in a financially sound position.

Look at the difference in players we now have
