I would say, we worked really hard to get in Helguson, after fans chanted to sign him up, a year later down the line, we couldn't wait to see him go.ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time we brought a real, top goal scorer ? I can only think of Mike Sheron but that was ages ago.
If someone has time to burn, I wonder how much money we have spent (signing on fees, agents fees, back handers and wages) over the last 5 years on wanabe goal scorers.Last edited by paulmason; 07-10-2009, 02:20 PM.

If the money or circumstances are right, then yes, they do.
QPR loaned then sold Blackstock to Forest.
Plymouth sold Ebanks-Blake to Wolves.
Those are just two examples.
Kris Boyd is free to talk and sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January, so in his case the circumstances could be right. Same goes for Beckford. Whether Rangers or Leeds would be willing to do a deal is another matter, but they are worth looking into.
Similarly, QPR could make another (or at least a proprer bid) for Hooper. How about a player + cash offer ? Maybe Mahon + Agyemang + cash might persuade S****horpe to sell.
QPR need a goalscorer to continue to make progress.
Simpson needs more games before really making a judgement, but from what I have seen so far, he doesn't yet look like a player who will score more than 12 league goals this season. His shooting against Swansea wasn't good enough and so far has scored in 2 of his 7 starts (3 goals).
Helguson is not likely to return to QPR, Agyemang is seemingly not wanted and Pellicori is struggling to even get a game.
So this really only leaves QPR with Simpson, Vine & Balanta as striking options and although all of them have good attributes, none looks like a real goalscorer. So it is time to get the chequebook out and start persuading clubs to sell and strikers to sign.

But you do have a good point about the strikers QPR have been signing.
Furlong was a goalscorer and a very good signing.
Cureton was a good goalscorer, but only at clubs playing to his strengths (QPR didn't).
Kiwomya should have done better.
Thomson was a good goalscorer, but suffered from a back injury and had a homesick wife wanting to return to Scotland.
Blackstock, in patches, was a reasonable scorer.
But others have been cheap options or injury prone strikers who were/are not going to get more than perhaps 10-12 a season. i.e. Koejoe, Ngonge, Griffiths, Sturridge, Moore, Nygaard, Nardiello, Agyemang, Di Carmine, Helguson & Pellicori have cost a lot of money in fees to clubs & agents as well as wages and medical bills without really coming up with the goals.

What about Koejoe? or my favorite Rob Steiner @ £250k from bradford, he was a good player but sadly suffered from knee injuries...

Spencer initially did very well for QPR, especially alongside Dichio. He only stopped scoring when the overrated and overpaid Sheron partnered him.
