The idea of him as a right back might work.

He's played there before to very good effect.

I dont think so. just cant see him being a good defender. Has the energy to get up and down the pitch, but cant see him being anywhere near the standard required as a defender.

No pun, but did you see the match were he played right back? I did, and I think he played well.

I was shouting this for years, he should have done this 3-4 years ago, as mentioned above, I saw him play there and he was outstanding.

It's to late now, he will be gone in two years, the club is evolving and long term, as hard as it might be, he can't and isn't the answer for any of the positions he can play, he will help this season and maybe next but that will be it.

yea i was there and do agree he was brilliant, basically played two positions lol.

I just think over time, you will find that he is going to be caught out position-ally time after time. Not knocking the bloke as think it is one of the hardest things to do in football, completely change your position, as players have generally been playing and learning their position for years before they actually play first team football.

Think we all agree Mackie probably isnt the smartest player and think he would be targeted and punished if played there regularly

The game he played right back was at forest some years back under Warnock, dont think he'll make a good right back unless he wears a neck brace, never gets his head up to see what's going on ahead of him . dont think he's made for that position.

He also played a home game at RB, someone may have been sent off, don't remember anymore than tgat, old age.

yea, you are right. He basically played "right side" and covered RB-RW

Unusually for a footballer, I think he's being a little clever.
He can see he might struggle to 'own' a starting place with so much competition in the squad in his favoured position, to the point he might only be considered a bit part sub short term. So he's looked at message boards and identified a position that 'might' currently be considered a weak point...... Blimey, fair play to him.

I think it's obvious there's a weak point at RB, don't think he read the boards to find that out, but I agree he's being smart.
