  • Rangers record scorers

No idea who our top ten scorers of all time are but if Charlie bags 25 goals this season - which if he stays fit he surely will - then added to the goals he already has surely he won't be all that far behind clive, les, etc?

George Goddard is our record scorer according to wiki with 172 goals so he would need to be here a few more years yet to challenge that

He will be up there or top scorers, has the potential to get to number 2 on the list
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

This is harder than I thought! Luckily I have Gordon Macey's "A Complete Record" book and numbers below are confirmed there unless noted otherwise.
A few of our more recent 50+ goalscorers:
George Goddard - 189 goals in 259 apps (1 goal per 1.37 apps)
Brian Bedford - 180 goals in 283 apps (1 goal per 1.57 apps)
Rodney Marsh - 134 goals in 242 apps (1 goal per 1.81 apps)
Kevin Gallen - 104 goals in 414 apps (1 goal per 3.98 apps) - soccerbase stats
Don Givens - 101 goals in 294 apps (1 goal per 2.91 apps)
Stan Bowles - 97 goals in 315 apps (1 goal per 3.25 apps)
Les Ferdinand - 91 goals in 185 apps (1 goal per 2.03 apps) - soccerbase stats
Clive Allen - 83 goals in 157 apps (1 goal per 1.89 apps)
Gary Bannister - 72 goals in 172 apps (1 goal per 2.39 apps)
Mick Leach - 70 goals in 361 apps (1 goal per 5.16 apps)
Gerry Francis - 65 goals in 354 apps (1 goal per 5.45 apps)
Simon Stainrod - 62 goals in 177 apps (1 goal per 2.85 apps)
Les Allen - 62 goals in 151 apps (1 goal per 2.44 apps)

Charlie Austin - 42 goals in 78 apps (1 goal per 1.86 apps) - soccerbase stats (up to date as of 8 Sep 2015)

Edit: Updated with correct numbers from Gordon Macey's book and Soccerbase. Previous wikipedia numbers were mostly just for league matches and did not include FA Cup, League Cup, Playoffs, and UEFA Cup.

What's Charlie's goal ratio for us? Must be pretty good and would be interesting to compare against previous goalscorers

Ha ha, just added it then saw your post - great minds! The 50 goal club for us is a pretty exclusive one and it would be great to see Charlie join it.

Not in the same league as sir les and I wish we used his full name. Scored his in the premier league and was a complete striker with pace. Fair play to Charlie and last seasons 18 was impressive in a dire team.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

39 goals in 71 games mate so a goal every 1.82 games which is bl00dy impressive given half of his tenure has been in the PL in a pony side.

Gutted when we sold Goddard, apparently he cried his eyes out when we sold him, if we had kept those two together we would have won something for sure!
