Diakite for the u21s? Do we have a reserve team? Club sending Diakite a message, get his agent on the phone to arrange a loan. Doesn't appear he is in 1st team plans.

Several years after Tony first said we would make a big thing of youth it is noticeable that our youth set up still seems to be falling well short, though in fairness Doughty and the left back who have come through the youth team might have a future. To earn its corn the youth set up should produce one player a year who we can either use or sell on. Otherwise, how are all those coaches etc earning their corn?

The academy is rotten.. Most of our decent players come from other Clubs. We haven't produced much for a long time, probably Marcus Bean. But it will take time, no quick fix. The club needs to install a football theory that runs through the whole club from U8's to the First Team. Not sure if Ramsey and Ferdinand are the ones to do that, time will tell.

You give a club four years to build a stable youth setup when they don't have a stable first team setup? Cmon, it will take a long time to build up a youth program and in order for that to happen, we have to become appealing. At this point, with the amount of london teams above us in the prem, we are not appealing enough to young players, who would rather go to west ham, chelsea, arsenal etc Than to be with us.

The rot and decay will take years to fix. A new coat of paint every now and again over a dilapidated edifice is a waste of a coat of paint. We've been papering over the cracks for a decade.

I have no doubt that in 1-2 years this type of thread will not exist on this board! As bad as the academy has been, it produced Stirling, Cole Kpetawa, Micheal Doughty, Sutherland, Lumley, Furlong and Elmer and Harriman are playing league football, not as bad as people make out.

Several bring clubs bring kids in from other clubs, the bigger clubs just come in and gobble up the best ones, I feel sometimes the club just gets slagged off because we are an easy mark, even by our own fans.

There is loyalty and there is defending failure - which isn't in the club's interests. I do take your point about what was inherited, but when we were signing some of the youngsters who turned out for us yesterday we would either have been storming the championship or in the premier league while brentford were doing whatever brentford were doing - playing crewe or gillingham probably. I struggle to believe that brentford had outstandingly better facilities during that time, probably just a coach and some scouts who had some idea of what they were doing. You seem to be saying because the first team has been run as a complete shambles it wd somehow be unreasonable of fans to expect the youth set up to be run any better. if you are really prepared to defend the fact that in over four years of ownership we haven't got a youth set up that is sufficiently competitive to avoid a 3-0 home defeat to the mighty brentford then you are clearly a much better fan than me...

As I said, it's easy to bash the hoops, but the list of youth players I have just mentioned, Brentford would kill for!

Stirling obviously, but not a single one of the others is a first team player yet. Brentford are roughly level with us now in league terms - have they, like us, not got a single home grown player in their first team? Kpetawa especially has potential, but we all know there is a massive leap from youth prospect to first team regular - the lower leagues are scattered with ex Utd/ Arsenal prodigies.

been home and away for more than 50 years. Not slagging off or bashing the club as you suggest. We all love to see our own youngsters coming through, I well remember Clive allen and paul goddard to name just 2. If they are good enough, play them, but the management don't seem to think so at moment.

I have 40 years under my belt, my point is, we current have 3-4 youth players produced by the club playing, Stirling also doing quite well, the youth system isn't brilliant but Gallen has done a Stirling job( see what I did there, lol)

Stirling never played for the first team.
Sutherland and Lumley have they broken into the first team?
Doherty is 23/24 now isn't he? And only had a handful of appearances.
                            Emmer was released.
Harriman is on loan and prob will be released at the end of the season
That leaves Fulong and Kpekwa. Furlong was hung out to dry by CR against CPFC and AFC, it will be tough for him. He should be put out on loan as I can't see him getting a game. Haven't seen enough of him. Same for Kepekwa, looked good vs YTFC but needs to be given a chance.

I cannot see anyone in the names you mentioned other than Stirling and Kepekwa that will earn Rangers money or go on to get 100 Appearances, sorry to be negative but it will take a while to sort out and the current crop are not up to the task IMO

Obviously OP is forgetting that Brentford are out the league cup so all our decent youngster/reserves will be playing in that and not the U21's this week... Kpekawa/Doughty/Smithies/Polter etc....

Brentford on the other hand played all their best youngsters and reserves to give them a game. Thats why we were beat handily.
