Touch of a rapist when he came on Saturday, but more than willing to give him a fair crack of the whip.

Ten things you might not know about Alex Smithies:

01| Alex has been a goalkeeper since the age of six. He’s never played any other position.

02 | He’s a Huddersfield Town fan man and boy.

03 | The new R’s keepers’ idol when he was younger was David Seaman. A familiar name to QPR fans.

04 | He likes to play golf in his spare time although admits he’s a bit of a hacker. He currently plays off 18.

QPR keeper Alex Smithies says decision to leave Huddersfield Town was 'pretty much forced upon him'

ALEX SMITHIES says leaving Huddersfield Town was a decision “pretty much forced upon him”.

The keeper returns to the John Smith’s Stadium with Queens Park Rangers nine days after completing a near £2m move to Loftus Road.

News of Rangers’ interest broke a fortnight ago, and the 25-year-old, who had just become a father, was left out of Town’s games against Blackburn Rovers and Brighton and Hove Albion as he pondered a first career move.

“It was a difficult decision after 17 years at Huddersfield and one I wasn’t really prepared for,” said the club academy product from the Colne Valley, who made 274 Town appearances.

“I got a phone call on the Friday night (before Blackburn) saying we have had an offer for you, do you want to go and speak to QPR?

I wonder if he celebtated our goal yesterday
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.
