This has got my back up big time. It wasn’t that long ago I read Sean Dyche having a pop at Derby and M'boro for "spending big" and yet here he is shelling out 9m on Andre Gray??

On the subject of that fee. Madness. Any consistency on player valuation has gone completely out of the window recently in the last few seasons. It used to be that for 10m you'd get yourself a mid table quality premiership player, with 10-20m being for exceptional players and 20m+ for World class. In the last 2 seasons alone Ross McCormack has joined Fulham for 11m, Shane Long has gone to Southampton for 12m, Gray is apparently valued at 8/9m and Blackburn want 12m+ for Rhodes. Long aside, not one of those players has ANY premiership proven experience. Even Shane Long has never been prolific in the Premiership.

And then we have Charlie Austin. All ######## aside about his ability to pass a medical, he's been prolific at EVERY level he's played in, is at a decent age and finished 4th highest top goal scorer in the prem last season ahead of players that teams have paid almost double the poultry 15 million we are asking for.

WBA want 22m for Berahino and Spurs want 40m for Kane??

The more I think about it the more I think 15m is too low and we'd actually be getting our pants pulled down for that, and would be getting fully raped for anything less.

    Complete and utter madness.

The 15mil is due to his contract running out in a year, thats it.

Burnley sold Ings for close to 10, also Trippier for a decent amount so they've had some cash come in.

Gray and Vokes will be a decent partnership. They've also got Jelle Vossen.

Absolute joke that. The bloke has scored about 8 goals or less per season for about 4 years !

Ings went on a free, but as he was there from a young age Liverpool had to pay compo

Cant see it being anywhere near that figure

Spit on hitman... 100% agree. It's frustrating as we are only 3/4 of the likes of the players you mentioned from being serious promotion candidates. I would also love yo Nick the palace dm gurrierola or whatever his be is.

Gone to Burnley! More lies from Bristol City, mugging of their fans making out they are spending nine or ten millions

I think 15 mil for a player who scored 18 in the premier league last year is cheap, I know he has one year left on his contract but if any club wants guaranteed goals (which he duly will oblige with) then it's a steal

Wish you was a manager of a premier league club cos none of them think it's cheap mate

Time will probably tell if it's cheap but given that Gray valuation I suspect it is too.

£15million is cheap for Austin, but even cheaper to tap him up now and get him on a free next summer!
Clubs like Leicester, Palace , Newcastle wouldn't stand a chance in getting him if there was interest from Spurs, Liverpool etc.
Was chatting to a Manc Fan earlier who has been a season ticket holder up there for over 20years who said that Austins name has been mentioned a lot on there forums by there fans as someone they wouldn't mind having now for the £15million valuation.

If you provide Charlie with the right service, he will score you goals.

I SUSPECT THIS DEAL WILL TAKE BURNLEY UP

Its a brilliant piece on managerial buisness in my opinion gray will stay for two seasons then move on for maybe 15 million
