    Charlie responds

CHARLIE AUSTIN fired a subtle response to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan's statement that the QPR striker "wasn't very good" last season.

He`s in his 3rd season with us and I can`t remember but has he had any trouble with his knee?

I like Charlie and wish him well but, apart from the fitness points, I know what Sullivan means. Fella's entitled to his opinion. Would that TF knew about players.

Taking off the blue and white hooped glasses, I'm sure he has aspirations to play in the Prem for a top side and make the England squad again. I think Sullivan coming out and saying what he has is un-called for...
I agree with you but at the same time, even with the glasses off, I still feel we can offer much more to charlie than a prem side. I think no matter what he does, if he isn't playing top 5 football, he won't get a call up to england. Simple, When you have Harry Kane and Berahino and Sturridge who the england manager prefers to you (even welbeck), moving to a club like west ham or everton will not be enough to secure you the place, even if you score 20+ goals. I feel like roy is the sort to stick to what he believes just because he doesn't want to be proven wrong. Staying here and getting 25+ goals for us (which he is more than capable of) will be better for him.

agree he wont get in the squad ahead of those players! But are you saying he is more likely to get in the squad staying and playing for us, getting 25 goals in the champ than going to a prem side and scoring goals?

Love the optimism but realistically we cant compete with a prem club and premier league football for Charlie, no matter how many way you look round it, its just a non-starter. I think moving to a club like Everton/West Ham and scoring 20 + goals would be more than enough to get in to contention for the England squad? I find it really surprising that you think differently! He got a call up with us in the bottom three?.....

It really is a non-starter of a debate Nasser, for him as an individual the premier league is where he needs to be to further his career and game.

Understandably a lot of the old blue and white hooped glasses on people's heads with this subject but come on realistically the Prem is where he needs to be!
If it was anyone other than Charlie what would your view be? Vardy for example... If Leicester got relegated last season, I'm pretty sure most on here would have the neutral view of, he needs to be back in the Prem.

Well, west ham are chalked off, Everton have an in form lukaku starting and charlie will have no chance getting ahead of him. No one else can afford him outside the top four and liverpool and spurs. He has just as much a chance of getting into the England squad playing for us as he does for any club other than that big 6 IMO.
